Automotive Landscape in Brazil Brazil was the 5th largest in spread and population.

It had enormous natural resources like minerals, water and fertile land etc. Brazil was a appropriate place for consumers and it had export platform for commodities and manufactured goods. Most of Brazils population around 53% was an urban area. Brazil came into Global picture because of various internal and external economic crisis. In 1994 Govt of brazil launched an Economic Stabilization Plan which would help to reduce inflation and make it the most di=versified economy in the world. Competition in Brazil Brazil GDP has 19 % share from the industrial automotive sector. North American and European players have come into the automotive sector in Brazil and they usually were involved in the assembly of vehicles. But Brazilian Govt. made it compulsory to either quit business in Brazil or else use 90-95% of local raw materials to produce vehicles. Later around 25 companies started production of vehicles. So this made Brazil the 6th in Passenger vehicle production and 5th in consumer market. Market leaders were Volkswagen, Ford, General Motors and Fiat contributing to 97% share of the automotive industry which later came down to 77%.the major share of competition for the new players came from Volkswagen Brazil(VWB).And Brazil wanted to change their focus to Replacement type market.
