ANG NARS POSITION PAPER ON THE NON-IMPLEMENTATION OF SALARY GRADE 15 FOR FILIPINO NURSES June 17, 2011 ANG NARS cries over long overdue salary increase for NURSES! In 2002, Republic Act 9173, the Nursing Act of 2002 Sec. 32 was signed into LAW which states that Nurse 1 should not receive a salary lower than Salary Grade 15. To this date, this has not been implemented. This is a travesty! On June 1, 2009, the Senate and Congress approved Joint Resolution 36, the Total Compensation Framework where the entry level salary of a Nurse 1 in the government is Salary Grade 11 (P18,589), claiming that this is an increase from the current salary being implemented (Salary grade 10 or P12,026). Now Salary Grade 15 is P24, 887. Instead of Salary Grade 11, the legal mandate is Salary Grade 15. This should be given to the Filipino nurses and must not indiscriminately ignore the rights already granted in the Nursing Act of 2002. This is UNFAIR LABOR PRACTICE because there should be no diminution from the LEGAL MANDATE that is Salary Grade 15 (P24,887) to Salary Grade 11 (P18,058). The Joint Resolution No. 36 failed to consider the injustice that has been perpetuated for eight years now, a willful act discriminating against its own people, the FILIPINO NURSES! This is ANTI-NURSE, AGAINST HUMAN RIGHTS!

IMPLEMENT SALARY GRADE 15 NOW!
