Purpose: To allow building level library media specialists who are members in good standing of GLMA to develop, design, implement, or continue an ongoing program, which promotes the use of the library media center in the instructional program. Award: The award shall consist of 2 grants from $ !!"$#!! for school library media specialists at the building level. Criteria: $. %ecipients must have been a GLMA member for two years before applying for the grant. 2. Grant re&uests must be typed and may not e'ceed the length of the form. They must not include additional materials. (. Grants will be )udged by the following criteria* a. +uality b. ,nnovativeness -,nterpretation* a pac.aged commercial program that can be purchased could &ualify as long as its application is innovative./ c. 0lear ob)ective d. 1enefits of 2ro)ect to 3tudents e. 1udget f. 4valuation 2lan . Grant recipients must agree to participate in a concurrent wor.shop along with other grant recipients at a 05M5 convention to share the merits of their pro)ects. ,t is intended that each grant recipient will ma.e only a $6"minute presentation. 3hould a grant recipient choose to present a whole concurrent program independently, the recipient would not be e'pected to participate in the )oint presentation. 6. Grant recipients may not apply again for another grant for five years. #. Grant award chec.s will be mailed to recipients. 7. The 3election 0ommittee will consist of five library media specialists appointed by the 1oard of 8irectors. The chair of the GLMA Awards 0ommittee shall be included in this number. 9. Application deadline is May 15, 2013. All grants must be postmar.ed and received by that date. :a'es will not be accepted. ;. The 3election 0ommittee will meet during 3ummer ,nstitute to select recipients. 10. 5nly the names of grant recipients will be posted on the GLMA website at www.glma" inc.org. Grant recipients alone will be notified by email. $$. Grant chec.s will be made out to the recipient<s school. $2. =ne'pended funds must be returned to GLMA, ,nc. in the event that the grant recipient is unable to implement the conditions of the grant. $(. The GLMA 4'ecutive 5ffice must receive a final written evaluation of the success of the pro)ect no later than May $ of the year following implementation or a fee of $$!! will be billed to the principal. The evaluation should include the number of students affected, impact on student learning, a list of itemi>ed e'penses, and recommendations for improvements of the pro)ect.

The ob)ective of this pro)ect is to boost the learning of 4LL students at 2erdue 2rimary 3chool. These students need the resources necessary to help them learn the 4nglish language. The students will benefit by having a fun place to come and learn in the media center by themselves or with small group teacher instruction.

The money will be used to purchase boo.s, i2ad learning games, and hands on games to help 4LL students learn the 4nglish language. 3tudents, 4LL teachers, and classroom teachers will be able to come to a corner in the library to find concept boo.s, i2ads set up with learning games, and a plethora of hands on games to engage and help students learn. 4LL students will be e'cited to come learn in their very own part of the library wor.ing on letter sounds, vocabulary, pronunciation, and other language s.ills necessary to succeed. De have a growing number of 4LL students that enter through our doors each year. De want to better serve them to be and feel successful in our school environment.
