ItiscalledThehillofgoldthatbeingbecauseinitsentrails(sothestorygoes)liesthetreasure oftheTz'utujilswhowerefleeingfromtheSpaniardswhentheycametoconquerthemhundreds ofyearsago.TheriflesandthegunpowderoftheSpaniardseasilydefeatedtheweaponsofthe natives.Theyfled,andwhenfleeingtheyleftbehindavastamountofgoldandpreciousstones. Fromtheirshipstheinvadersweredazzledbeholdingthebootyandlegendhasitthatwhenthey wereabouttojumpintotheland,thevolcanobeganspittingoutlavaandrocksinabundance, thuskillingtheSpaniardsandforminganothervolcanothathidthetreasuretothisday. Traditionsaysthereisaspellonthemountainthathidestheentrancetothetreasureandthat onlythepriestsknowthewayinwhentheLadinos*aregone,thespellwoulddisappearandthe richeswouldreturntotheTzutujilpeople.
