Ender agreed to go Battle School...why?


He wanted to protect Valentine Ender was told family wont miss him Ender did not feel like he belonged at home

Nelson was sent to prison in 1964 Prisoned for 27 years


Fighting for freedom Fought against apartheid Imprisoned on Roben Island for 18 out of the 27 years Incarcerated on many other prisons, such as Pollsmoor Prison and Victor Verster Prison.

Getting Freedom Back


Ender wins back his freedom by leaving planet Earth to revive the buggers. Makes up for what he did Starts speaker of the dead for aliens

When he gets out of prison Nelson Mandela won his freedom when he became the first black president of Africa in 1994

How Ender was Treated Differently


In Enders Game Thirds are:

Treated Poorly and as outsiders Usually denied education Restricted or banished by Governmental Laws. Laws were passed stating that Thirds were not allowed in families Quote hes doing well. His Keen play is excellent. Young as he is, weve never had a boy better prepared for command. Usually they got in at eleven, but at nine and a half hes top flight (Card 154)

How blacks were treated differently in Mandelas time


During Nelson Mandelas times of apartheid:

Blacks were treated very badly Stayed in another community Needed passport They had to share with each other

Enders Nickname
Andrew Wiggins was nicknamed Ender Valentine found Andrew hard to pronounce Ender ends the war with the buggers Ends an entire alien race He was the Ender of all wars

Mandelas Alternated name


Mandela was named Nelson at a primary school he went to Rohlilahla is his real name African children were given English names Nadiba is his clan name

Enders Leadership
Ender shows leadership by continuously being in control of every situation. He was commander of the newly revived Dragon Army He was appointed leader and commander of International Fleet (I.F)

How was Nelson Mandela a Leader?


Nelson Mandela becomes a leader in many ways: In prison got comrades to walk slowly and was negotiated. This proved the recognition of his leadership. Elected as first black President of South Africa He put an end to the apartheid of South Africa

Control over Ender


Ender was monitored and controlled by Graff. Graff was psychologically connected to his brain. He was indirectly forced to go to Battle School, as that was the only reason for his birth Ender was always watched and closely contained and guided. Quote Andrew, I suppose by now youre just absolutely sick of having that horrid monitor (Card, 2)

Control over Nelson Mandela


Him and his race were controlled as slaves and closely dominated by the whites. He was sent to jail for speaking up. There was propaganda that was spread around the world when Mandela had received global attention The propaganda spread pressured down Mandelas reputation as he became more noticeable and earned a voice.

How was Ender inspired to go to Battle School


Mazer Rackham inspired Ender to save the world He was promised fame and glory He was told that Battle school was where he belonged, where he was meant to be.

How was Mandela inspired to make a stand for his race


Mandela was inspired by Walter Sisulu He believed Africa needed a change Joined all groups Sisulu did Growing up felt change was needed

Enders Hardships

He was treated poorly for being a third Due to his age older student gave him a hard time It was hard for him to be away from Valentine It was hard for Ender to trust other people Peter terrorized Ender Quote I dont care anymore, thought Ender. You can keep your game. If you wont even give me a chance, why should I play? (Card.62)

Mandelas Hardships
Nelson was divorced twice Nelsons daughter died after 9 months He was arrested and a prisoner for 27 years
