BUTTERFLY

1. Paper square. Fold in half like a book. Unfold. Turn it over.

2. Fold in half diagonally. Unfold.

3. Fold in half diagonally.

4. Hold by bottom corners and push together untill the center lines of all four sides meet.

5. Press flat with two flaps on each side. Turn end-for-end.

6. Fold upper layer of flaps only.

7. Turn it over.

8. Fold all layers.

9. Turn it over.

10. Pull hind wings down as far as you can. Sides will turn up and in. Press them flat.

11. Turn it over.

12. Picture became lager.

13. Turn head down over edges of forewings.

14. Fold head back up, leaving a small pleat to hold the layers of the model together.

15. Step 14 completed.

16. Fold model in half downward, so edges of wings match all around.

17. To form body, fold both wings of one side upward. This is hard to do, as the paper is thick here.

18. Turn it over .

19. Repeat step 17 .

20. Open it.

21. Finished! This butterfly is the symbol of the International Origami Friendship Society of Tokyo.
