Holder Although it’s an easy lathe project, this inkwell styled pencil holder can make a well- received gift or a nice addition to your desk. Mahogany Inkwell Pencil Holder Complete Schematic Mahogany Inkwell Pencil Holder Step-by- Step Instructions 1. Select a solid block of 3" square x 3-1/2" long mahogany. 2. Use screws to secure the block to a turning plate. 3. Turn to the dimensions shown. 4. Sand. 5. Use a 1-1/2" spade bit to bore the 2-1/2" deep hole. 6. Finish with brown mahagony paste filler mixed with Minwax Jacobean stain. 7. Apply two coats of polyurethane varnish. 8. Glue a piece of green felt to the bottom.
