800 Claymont Community Center Child Sexual Abuse Policy In its simplest form and for the purposes

s of Policy 800, sexual abuse and/ or molestation is defined as any conduct or activity leading to, or resulting in, sexual arousal and/ or gratification of one or both parties involved. It includes but is not limited to, inappropriate touching and contact (both physical and implied) of any kind with youth, clients, volunteers, or staff member of the Claymont Community Center. In accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware and Darkness to Light, this policy seeks to express the Claymont Community Centers mission to prevent Child Sexual Abuse. This policy details the conduct to which all staff members, volunteers, and respective tenants are expected to engage with the services of children and young adults. Any misconduct which includes a violation of client boundaries or violates the terms of this Policy will result in corrective action up to and including immediate termination of employment. 805 Hiring and Training Procedures 1. All employees and Volunteers are required to complete a Criminal Background check as well as pass any necessary clearances prior to working with any client 18 years of age and younger. 2. Once hired, the employee is responsible for ensuring that all of the appropriate trainings have been completed within a 30 day period. a. Please see your supervisor once all related training has been completed in a timely manner. 810 Employee Conduct 1. Employees should avoid being left alone with any clients. In an effort to prevent this occurrence it is recommended that at least two (2) employees be present with clients at all times. When this is not possible, the employee is to ensure that all doors are open, and that all areas all well-lit and easily accessible. If it is required that a Closed Door consultation or session take place, employees are advised to contact any available Supervisor immediately with a start and end time for the consultation. (If necessary it is recommended that the session be recorded.) 2. When appropriate, assistance with toileting should instructional as oppose to physical. If this is not feasible all efforts to achieve modesty must be made. Doors should be left open in the event that physical assistance necessary. 3. It is recommended that employees avoid any physical contact with clients unless required to fulfill your respective job duties. 4. When transporting clients, there are to be at least two employees present at the time of transport. Should this not be a viable option, it is required that the employee be of the same sex as the client. If this is not possible, the employee will contact any available supervisor immediately with a time of departure and arrival.

5. Employees should have no contact with any client less than 18 years of age outside of normal work hours. For this purpose work hours are defined by any time in which the employee is representing the organization. This includes but is not limited any social networking, internet source, or by telephone media. 815 Duty to Report 1. Claymont Community Center in compliance with Delaware State Law mandates that any suspicions or detection of Child Abuse or neglect be orally reported immediately to the Department of Services for Children, Youth and Their Families. 2. You may report child abuse or neglect by calling the Departments 24-hour child abuse and neglect hotline at (800) 292-9582. The Department will notify DPR of child abuse allegations. 3. Recommended to speak to available supervisor prior? 4. If necessary the employee is expected to take immediate action to protect the child(ren) from harm. 5. Any employee alleged to have perpetrated an incident of child abuse or neglect shall not have direct contact with any child and/ or be reassigned to other duties that do not involve contact with other children until the investigation is complete.
