I will evaluate the pre-assessment of this lesson by tallying up the responses to the opening question: Have you ever eaten a piece of pie? This allows students to become interested in the lesson, and tally the results as a class on the smart board. Anecdotal notes and comments of students during the lesson are documented. The completed page of the book for each student will be evaluated on accuracy and amount of effort. The final product will be the class book that the students can read during centers. The pre assessment will be used to determine students participation of the lesson and their relation to the content. Anecdotal notes and comments of students discussion on the activity and why we might be learning about the topic will set stage for the remainder or the lesson. The observations and final product of the class book will be used in future thanksgiving lesson during the month and provide formal assessment of the objective.
