Stereotype
They are evil. This is one of the most common stereotypes of homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender people. Through this essay I will show different peoples opinions, defining more of the stereotypes, describing the lifestyles of homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender people, and the effects of what these stereotypes are doing to these people. Because homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender people are just like everyone else. Most of the common stereotypes of homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender people come from their appearance, the way they talk, and our judgmental opinions. Especially that all homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender people are evil. By definition evil is: Bad, Dangerous, Hurtful, ill, and Wicked (Merriam-Webster). And the some synonyms to describe homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender people are: dumb, unconcerned, boring, and careless (Merriam-Webster). The myth of the gay agenda by LZ Granderson who is gay addresses the situations and stereotypes about homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender people. He states that Politicians say that the gay lifestyle is a bigger threat to human civilization then a terrorist attack. He goes on saying that If this is true he wants to find out what he is doing that is so evil, and put a stop to it. He describes his daily lifestyles as walking up and drinking coffee, getting stuck in traffic, cooking, cleaning, and then sleeping. He says he is in love, and was once single. He states that The people in the audience, if any of you drink coffee, get stuck in traffic, sleep, are in love, or single, that you may be gay. As I pointed

Sera Nilsson Professor: Jennifer Leo Writing 990 (11:30am-12:50pm) 11/4/2013 out earlier, people feel that homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender people are evil only because they love a different gender of people. Most recently the petitions that have been accruing is the strike for same-sex marriage. Because of these petitions it has made more of these stereotypes come to life. More than ever. Because of the stereotype that homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender people are evil. It brings up secondary stereotypes such as: They are confused. They are an abominations to humans. They dont make good parents. They do this to get attention. They were born that way. They are mental. They are too feminine. Because of these stereotypes homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender people are treated unequal When watching LZ Grandersons videotaped talk he talks about the gay agenda how everyone wants to know what the gays are up to and what is the gay agenda. He shows the gay agenda is just the US constitution in a little book. Because all that homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender people want is the equal rights that have already been granted to them. This bring up some of the things effects that stereotypes bring up about homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender. Because of these stereotypes these people have their rights taken away from them because they are homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender. LZ Granderson speaks about how it is legal to take away somebodies job, kick somebody out of their own home, refuse to sell and object, and not let somebody adopt a child all because you may be homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender. Because of these stereotypes people live in fear of being themselves because they are afraid they will end up homeless, and have everything taken away from them. His speech bring up the fact that so many different types of

Sera Nilsson Professor: Jennifer Leo Writing 990 (11:30am-12:50pm) 11/4/2013 people have been through the same things that homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender people are going through right now. In history, it was black people, woman, special needs, and so many more. And now its homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender people. That we as US citizens keep doing this because of stereotypes. People get judged on what they are rather than who they are. I have a 15 year old son. He is a 4.0 student, has several trophies, awards, plays sports, activities, and is in clubs at school. (Grandersens) He feels he has had a part in his son growing up and believe that he is a good father. But if he wanted to go adopt a child from a shelter he would be denied that opportunity only for one reason, because he is gay. Not because he is a good father, has a good home, job, and etc. but only because he is gay. Because of these stereotypes homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender people have in away had their lives taken away from them. From researching this topic, and writing my essay, I learned more about some of the rights that have been taken away from homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender people. I have seen such stereotypes and hatred happen towards homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender people, I have three friends that are gay, and a family member that is lesbian, I have seen what they have gone through. But as one of my friends says The stereotypes helps some of us, because of the stereotypes we are becoming stronger than ever, and confident, and One day we will be able to be ourselves. (Wants to stay anonymous) What their lifestyles are like, and how they are no different than any of us only that they love a different gender of people. Overall the meaning of my essay is that stereotypes are just words, judgmental things that we come up with to label someone or something. Especially

Sera Nilsson Professor: Jennifer Leo Writing 990 (11:30am-12:50pm) 11/4/2013 homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender people. Because overall in the end homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender people, are no different than everyone else.
