Students health and safety research report Problems, cause and solution analysis A research report by Sir Umer

gates. The school has not made sure the proper means of safety for kids while they are coming or going from school. A number of incidents happened in past also. 1. Install road signs on all coming and going roads and corners. 2. Build speed breakers. 3. Install barriers on road.

While discussing or writing they have to turn their necks around left or right and sitting in such posture for hours create neck injuries and many other RSI (Repetitive Strain Injuries) problems in bodies that are severe for children. 1. Make sure classes are big enough to accommodate all students. 2. High strength classes should be split up into sections. 3. Sitting arrangements should be properly spaced and placed in straight alignment with respect of view of teachers and class board.

3. Improper seating arrangement for students in classes. Students often sit in the overcrowded classes and their

1. Proper installation of windows and air ducts for crossing of fresh air in classes. 2. Installation of cooling fans and exhaust fans.

5. Improperly constructed labs.

The school labs are not properly constructed taking into account the safety of students while performing experiments. The chemical stock and performing tables are at the same place. No fire extinguishers and safety kit is present there.

1. Proper and vast space should be provided that will be airy, properly ventilated and illuminated. 2. Chemical stock should be placed separately from performing tables.

6. Obsolete computer hardware.

Students can be suffered from obsolete computer hardware they used to study. The monitors display is very bad without any eye protection that could seriously damage their eyesight and could cause mental problems like headache.

1. Provide new and safe computer hardware. It creates self interest in learning and acquiring knowledge in students.

To sit and write on them is very difficult and cause bad handwriting. Some broken chairs also tear the uniform or cut the skin of students. 8. Power failures and backup problems.

During power failures the generators dont run properly. If they run they create huge noise that some classes cannot conduct learning. The smoke fumes also damages the lungs of people breathing nearby. If it doesnt run the campus two classes became dungeons, darkness affects students eyesight and too hot classes are difficult to sit and study.

1. Noise less generators should be installed and at proper places. 2. Proper air and ventilation measures should be taken to ensure adequate amount of light and air passes through classes.

9. Too high voice of speakers for calling cause noise

problems.

The school has very inadequate sound and speaker system for calling students. The sound is too loud which is dangerous for students and teachers. They cannot concentrate on subjects and it cause severe headache and hearing problems. The personnel handling the sound system are very careless, irresponsible and extremely non cooperative.

No need of high pitched echo speakers for rocking the whole school or neighborhood. Simply categorize students at off time without shouting, train them. Van students go first and the teacher in the class make sure to keep them out first in line then followed by next group of by walk students. Parent pickers gather down in central yard or junior class and by using a small microphone the rest of the job will get done.

10. Foul conditions of washrooms.

The washrooms are very smelly. Adequate cleaning is often missing; staff only washed them once at off time. No antibacterial hand wash is present. Number of washrooms usable need to be increased.

Washrooms need to create an environment where students, go relax and came back happily, not a place where they go and odors make them spit out and the very sight inside washroom make them fainted and lost of consciousness. The solution is simple just clean up everything properly using antibacterial cleaners and make surroundings clean.

13. Nonqualified sports and physical activity teacher.

The teacher in charge of sports and physical activities are not trained or either qualified in such regard from specified institutes. The physical activities are not planned properly for kids according to age or gender wise.

1. Hire some professional physical trainer for kids. 2. Devise a detailed exercise plan according to age and gender wise. 3. Organize sports activities for kids and purchase sports goods. 4. Make daily assembly exercise schedule for students.

18. Inappropriate security features.

In the currently panicking situation of law and order in city the security feature needs to be taken care. Currently one guard protects 2 campuses with a rusty gun and no fire order.

Increase number of security guards. Install security cameras.

22. Inapt discipline rules and regulations.

Rules like no water drinking from water coolers or going to washroom during recess time, first period or in last period pose serious questions on the mentality of management committee. This forms a type of physical torture and students think they are being sent to prison.

Controlling discipline by restraining such needs of kids cause serious health problems for them. To avoid such problems simply use common sense while formulating rules and regulation.

23. Appalling schedule for relaxing and lunch timing.

The time period for breakfast is not properly managed the bell usually rang late and much time is wasted in gathering in play area. The canteen is small and the whole break time is wasted in purchasing lunch and even some still left to buy it.

Increase the break time. Increase number of canteen workers. Build big canteen.
