Name: Ali Aman Instructor: Kristin Course & Section: CO 150, 403 Date: 10/23/13 Single-Sex Education An Annotated Bibliography This annotated bibliography was compiled to investigate the controversial topic of singlesex education and whether it is beneficial to the school community or not. I developed an interest in this specific topic because of my education background which combines both single gender and coeducational methods. Also, it is worth investigating which type of school would benefit both genders more, respect students rights and enhance students scores and grades. The controversy of this issue is related to many things. It is more likely because of the psychological aspects regarding the students and their instructors, biological factors such as how males and females differ in their learning process in addition to the distraction of the opposite sex in the same class or school. This controversial topic is very important as my country is researching the possibility of changing the school system from single sex to coeducational system.

My research was influenced by this question: do we need to apply single sex education in our school system? Between the dates of October 21st, 2013 and October 23rd, 2013 this research was conducted and it includes three sources. Two sources are academic articles that were published in peer-review journals and the remaining source is a conducted survey. The sources eplore both positive an negative arguments of single sex education.

Because this is litterateur review, the authors used a variety of research and studies with including a historical aspect. The authors mentioned the single-sex schooling and the brain argument. Also, a counter argument for this is that this claim was made by the proponents to support their claims.
