Students will examine their own familys demographic profile; this task will form the start point of their performance task.
Students will create a choropleth map to display world population densities of the world. This task will draw on previous knowledge from a mapping unit and also what they are learning about population distribution and density in the world. Essay Students will write an essay following a rubric discussing what they know about population densities and distributions across the world. This task will display their knowledge and understanding of population density and distribution and assess their research and investigation skills.

Students will sit two summative written assessments during the quarter. These assessments will examine students knowledge and understanding of core concepts and standards in the form of MCQ, short response, and interpretation questions.

Population pyramids construction, students are assigned a country and they must investigate the shape of the population pyramid and construct it. They must also provide an explanation as to why the pyramid is shaped like this and present it to the class. HDI questions Students will examine statistics from the human development index (HDI) and interpret them using a set of pre assigned questions.

Students are to create a poster that displays their knowledge and understanding of population density distribution and characteristics in the UAE, and complete an independent study of UAEs demographic profile, as well as including their own familys demographic profile, as per the rubric and task sheet provided.
Students are to investigate world population statistics for 2012 using the population reference bureau (PRB), fill in a data sheet and answer a series of 15 questions through research and investigation.
Students will sit two summative written assessments during the quarter. These assessments will examine students knowledge and understanding of core concepts and standards in the form of MCQ, short response, and interpretation questions.
