CHI. MIRA,

I am glad you are guiding Ganga Devi. She must not do any
strenuous work just yet. I hope Raghavayya is better now. Sindi
cleaning must not be omitted even for a day.3

But at the same time

you must have that silent walk up to the hill.
Sardar has arranged a very light programme for me.
Love

BAPU

J. K. Pani Fund was started by the Harijan Sevak Sangh in June, 1933 for the
improvement of water supply in Harijan colonies.

Mirabehn explains: “The inhabitants of this village . . . used the sides of
the roads . . . for easing themselves. I happened to mention this matter to Bapu and he
immediately said: ‘It is our duty to teach these people sanitation and if they won’t
listen . . . we should clean up . . . .’ The villagers proved deaf . . . . so Bapu told me to
take bucket and shovel, and any volunteers . . . and daily go to clean . . . .”
