Malls and landmark buildings in the UAE: T shows UAE malls and landmark buildings PPT, with SS identifying them. Ask SS why there are so many malls in the UAE. Why are there so many new buildings and roads in the UAE? Personalise by giving SS some information about Ts own country. Let them ask some questions. T may ask some Qs about the UAE. Pre-teach vocabulary as necessary using the PowerPoint: north, south, east, west, Middle East, country, capital, modern, oil, discover, grow, wealthy, map, coast, mountains, rivers, desert In pairs, SS read James and Saeed dialogue, answering gist (task 1) and detailed questions (task 2). Peer check and feed back to class after each task. In pairs, SS complete tasks A to E using the vocab from the James and Saeed dialogue. Peer check and feed back to class. Using the UAE map and lexis from the reading, in pairs, SS write 10 sentences.
