Materials: Approx. 200 yards of worsted weight yarn Size I (5.5 mm) crochet hook Yarn needle for weaving in ends Stitches used: Ch = chain Slst = slip stitch Hdc = half double crochet Fpdc = front post double crochet Fpdtr = front post double treble

Instructions: Chain 701. Slst in first ch to form a ring (be very careful not to twist the foundation chain!). Round 1: Ch 2 (does not count as hdc here or throughout). Hdc in 1st ch (place marker in first hdc). Hdc in each ch around (70 hdc). Slst to first hdc. (From here onward, move marker to first hdc in each row.) Round 2: Ch 2, hdc in first hdc (in base of ch2). *Fpdc around next 8 hdc, hdc in back loop only of next 2 hdc. Repeat from * around through last 8-fpdc group; hdc in back loop only of last hdc. Slst to 2nd ch of beg ch-2. Round 3: Ch 2, hdc in first hdc. *Fpdc around next 8 fpdc, hdc in back loop only of next 2 hdc. Repeat from * around through last 8-fpdc group; hdc in back loop only of last hdc. Slst to first hdc. Round 4: Ch 2, hdc in first hdc. In 8-fpdc group, *skip first 4 fpdc. Fpdtr in 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th fpdcs. Going IN FRONT OF stitches just made, fpdtr in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th fpdc. Hdc in back loop only of next 2 hdc. Fpdtr in 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th fpdcs. Going BEHIND sts just made, fpdtr in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th fpdc. Hdc in blo of next 2 fpdc. Repeat from * around to last 8-fpdtr group; hdc in back loop only of last hdc. Slst to first hdc. Round 5: Ch 2, hdc in first hdc. *Fpdc around next 8 fpdtr, hdc in back loop only of next 2 hdc. Repeat from * around to last 8-fpdc group; hdc in back loop only of last hdc. Slst to first hdc. Rounds 6-8: Repeat Round 5. Repeat rows 4-8 two or three times, depending on how tall you want your finished cowl. Finish off. Weave in ends. Enjoy!
