Posted by Yogesh on May 15th, 2013 | 224 Comments

First of all i would like to congratulate you all that you are IIT aspirants and have guts to for IIT JEE Preparation. As most of the students skip the idea for IIT JEE preparation and satisfy their life. Most of the students have a fear that they will not able to crack jee exam so they skip this idea. Swami Vivekanand :- Take risks in your life, if you pass you will lead but if you fail you can guide.

I have decided to write about List of Books for IIT JEE Main/Advace Preparation. And also this was the query with most of the students that they dont know about the books for jee preparation and are confused. Here in this post i have divided into five categories according to years. So find yourself in which category you fall and sutdy accordingly. Note :- These tips are not written by a profession or professor but a student of NIT-DELHI student from his personal experience who secured a rank of 11,529 in 2011 IIT JEE Exam. And these tips differ from person to person.Neither these tips gurantee you a rank but can assure that you can get a good rank.So here are books for iit jee advance/main preparation :-

1) Books for IIT JEE Preparation for 9th Class Students :Strength of a building can be determined by its base.So for 9th Class students who have almost four year for iit jee preparation have a golden chance to get a rank in top 100 in jee exam if they study on regular bases. So my advice to 9th class students to take coaching in any best coaching institute of iit jee preparation or reputed coaching centre in their region in 4 year IIT JEE preparation plan. Coaching Helps you in :Sharpening Your Mind Your School Performance Get to know tips and tricks in solving problems It also helps in revision Guidence from coaching teacher as they are into a category of jee toppers.

So 9th Class students mainly focus on learning various tips and tricks for solving question and clear your concepts. When you clear ninth class than you enter into 10th class. . .

2) Books for IIT JEE Preparation for 10th Class Students :As 10th class is class of boards exam.So students should concentrate on their boards also too.Make your schedule and study accordingly.10th class is the class where you can make yourself strong in any subject. Also you can solve package of any institute which will further help you to enhance your performance in boards and also build your base. But study on regular basis. When you clear your 10th class . . you will enter in 11th.

3) Books for IIT JEE Preparation for 11th Class Students :-

Most of the students prefer to enter into coaching institute in 11th class. Now 11th class is the time where you have to pull up your socks for IIT JEE preparation. If you are not able to enter into any coaching centre than you can take a corresponding course from a reputed institute. Books :For Physics Stick to H.C Verma and if you have time than you can also solve coaching booklet and try to solve previous year question for jee. For Mathematics :- You can purchase vidyamandir mathematics booklet for 11th class or ML khanna + your coaching class booklet + solve previous year qeustion for jee exam. For Chemistry :- Solve NCERT ( mandatory) + you can purchase chemistry package from an institute named resonance or any good helping book+ previous year question of jee exam. You can also go for solomon for getting good knowledge in organic chhemistry.

When you clear your 11th class than you enter into 12th class. . .

4) Books for IIT JEE Preparation for 12th Class Students :IIT JEE main/advance preparation Books for 12th class students is same as mentioned into 3rd category i.e for 11th class students with one level next :For Physics :- H.C Verma for 12th Class+If you have time than try to do coaching booklet+previous year question For Mathsmatics :- Vidyamandir Mathematics module for 12th class or ML khanna+Your coaching book+ previous year question For Chemistry :- Resonance institute 12th class booklet or any good reference book+Your institute booklet+previous year questions

But additonal one thing is that is various institute conduct All India Test Series , you can register yourself and sit in these test series. This will tell you how prepared you are for your iit increase your study hours in class 12th. jee exam. And try to

5) Books for IIT JEE Preparation for One Year Drop Students :This is the category for the students who have last chance to apprear in jee exam.Books are almost same as mentioned for 11th class and 12th class students. But you have to work really very hard.Dont miss even a single day without study.Just make your schedule for a day and prepare accordingly. You can also register yourself in All India Test Series conducted by different institutes. Note :- Clearing Jee Exam is not a 4-5 month game(for average students). In what ever category you are.You have to study on regular basis. And the above 5 points discussed in this article is for average and below average students. These books will also help you in other competitive exam like bitsat, aiee preparation. Well this is my part . . .if you have any other idea or you want to suggest other books than feel free to suggest via comments below to help other students like you.You can also share your query and problem and we will all discuss tha solution.

Hello Himanshu Himanshu you really have to work hard this time as you have only once chance left. Here i will give you two time table so select one of them and work accordingly. In first time table you have to study for 12 hours a day.Divide the 12 hours into 4 slots with 3 hours each.Study like this when you wake up, at noon,at evening, at night. If you think that you can study more than 12 hours than add one hour in each slot.If not than here is second time table , study atleast 9 hour . . divide 9 hour into 3 slots and study. Yes Irodov is also a nice book it its level is very high. Now a days question are not that much tough and you can solve them in 2-3 minutes if you know the concept.Moreever, Irodov is not meant for an average students because they dont find tym to solve itn and because of its high difficulty level.

Yogesh says:
June 19, 2013 at 8:25 pm

Hello Apurva

This is the query with many students.I think you have to give priority to both i.e jee preparation and your school board exams. All you need is time management.Try to finish your school work on the same day so that you hve time to revise your coaching work. Also use your each and every second. When i was in your place i even try to complete my work in lunch break, study while travelling.I knw that its hard to manage this thing but there is no solution. So utilise your free time whenever you get.Have a good diet so that you can manage between school and coaching. And dont ever take this management as a pressure try to smile in this situation otherwwise you will end up as a failure. As you mentioned that you are doing D.C pandey for physics. . its a good book.I suggest you not to switch to any other book as you have hardly a year left for your exam.In the end if you have time than i prefer you to solve H.C Verma ( only good scoring chapters/good weitage physics chapters ) So that you get a strong grip on physics (only when you have time its not manadatory). Stay tuned for more updates. Gud luck And sry for late rply . . i wan damm bzy with my other things.

Hello Akshat Every human have different mind setup, catching power, learning attitude. So cant judge your frnd with you.I will give you examples of many students who study for 4-5 hours a day but still manage to get a good rank.So no one can decide what kind of study other person wants. Many be your frnd not able to perform on exam day because of fear, may be he was not confident reason can be many. But there is no hard and fast rule that you are not able to clear jee exam.So be confident and concentrate on your studies.I cant ggurantee you a rank in jee but can assure you that the books which i have listed are among the best books for jjee preparation.Almost every teacher suggest these book. I to managed to get an average rank from these books only.So study them you will surely get a good rank.Dont think that if you study 12 hours a day than only you can clear the exam. Its all about understanding the concepts and practise. Sir, I got 160 in jee main and 104 in jee advanced.sir I had really prepared very hard but failed to answer jee advance questions . I got 80% in hsc board for which cut off this year was 64 % . I am dropping for a year without giving board improvement exam in 2014 . If cut off next year rises more than 80 will I qualify? I also want to ask a difficult question. I prepared from cengage publication .i used to find h c verma problems too easy. I found jee advance questions higher level than HCV or NCERT. also maths was really very tough. I failed to answer any question of series , summation, complex no. Can u suggest from which books to prepare for these high level questions. Thank you.
Reply

Yogesh says:
June 23, 2013 at 8:03 pm

Hello Aman No one can predict if cutt off will above 80 or not.So i advice you to give improvement exams to be on the safe side.Bro i think that case with you is lack of practice.H.C Verma books of well known books for jee preparation and hardness of question are also remarkable. When you do its Exercise 2 then you will find higher level question. So try to solve again and again.Because jee exam question level is not go beyong H.C Verma question.I can agree that some question might be hard but try to focus on those question that are not to that level.Otherwise you can try out for IRODOV for phycise. It have very high level question. For maths purchase books specially concentrated on topics which you are lack in like Series, summation, complex no.In the end i can only say that practice as much as you can.

studying hard from the beginning.Fiitjee, Akash, Vidyamandir classes, Allen kota, Resonance are some of good coaching centre. But coaching centres dosnt matter a lot. What matter is student.

Hello Ashiklal You can clear your concept from any book. But understanding concept doesnt gurantee you to crack all your problems until and unless you practice them.So try to focus no practice part. And irodov like books are of very high level. If you want to get a deserving rank in jee exam than there is no need to solve these books. Moreover than time you spend in solving these books that time you can devote to other subject.I think it will be more fruitful.

Hello Abhishek Are you mentioned that you have only seven months left for ur exam..so i advice you not to skip to another book.Do what you are doing.Hold a grip in subjects like Physics and Chemistry. These subjects are enough to get you a good rank. For maths point out the important+scoring chapters and practice their questions from good refrence book like M.L Khanna or S.Chand.Hardly there will be around 5-10 chapters for maths. And you can manage to do them and also hold a grip in maths in coming seven months if you dedicate one month for only one chapter. Hello Nitish I suggest you not to drop a year due to your parents and relative pressure or will.Drop a year when your own mind and heart say that this time you will perform better. Its good if anyone drop a year when he/she didnt get the result according to hardwork. But it of no use if someone dropp a year for their parents and relative sake.

(especially in physics!) Im studying in Gujarat board currently so jee wasnt ever an important thing, people got serious about it only from last year. [(I'm sorry if this message is going too long!)] Ive started preparing this year only and as for now Im studying for about 10 hours a day is that enough?? because I still feel I cant do a few things and I cant go as deep into the subject as much as I want to. please suggest what to do, and thank you for your time!:)

First of all thanxx for this appreciationphysica is little bit tough when it comes to concept area.Concept will be clear when you practise as many question as you can.In physics reading books will not guranttee that a student will be able to understand the concept. So its my advice to you that solve problems and take help from your teachers.H.C Verma is enough do it completely. No matter that from 10 question you will able to solve only 2. And yes 10 hours study is good enough for jee preparation. You will do good in jee exam.Bus fosuc on

Hello..is it worth going to BITS as they do not provide degrees like B.Tech or M.tech which are required to be called as engineers..Am i right ?? If so then why BITS is considered to compete with IIT ? I am asking becuz I was going to give BITSAT 2014 but now i wont as it wont provide me with such a degree.

dear student, u need to learn the funda of BE and B.Tech.. There is no difference in B.E & B.Tech in terms of importance & scope but there are several misconceptions about these degrees like B.E. is offered by Private Institutes & B.Tech is offered by Government Institutes only, B.Tech curriculum has industrial training semester but in B.E curriculum it is not and B.Tech is valued more than B.E during recruitment. 7-8 years before the main difference between these two degree was that B.E. curriculum was emphasizing on more theoretical part while in B.Tech deals more with practical part but after establishment of various autonomous universities few years back this phenomena gets diluted and both degrees become equivalent with each other in terms of all aspects. Two types of universities were existed in India after Independence; one were offering the degrees in various field like science, arts, commerce, education as well as engineering too which were name their engineering degree as Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) and second ones were Institutes (IITs) which were offering degrees in engineering only which were name their engineering degree as Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) means it was differentiating IITians from other engineers only and got continued as time goes. But after years AICTE approved same courses for B.E & B.Tech and thats why other institutes also offer B.Tech now BITS has other courses too apart from enggineering so they offer BE..so dont ever say that u need to have btech to be called as enggineer.. Sir Im studying in 11th std. Im following all your instructions and want to crack iit. Till 10th std. my studies were not good{i.e not more then 15-30 minutes a day} but still i got 86% in 10th.I realised the toughness of JEE(main+advanced) and studying for 5-6 hrs a day. But still im not confident that this study is enough as college and class has to regurly attended. So what should i do more to get good marks in JEE and want to IIT college of Mumbai or Delhi. Please give me some guidance.

Firstly,Jees new pattern demands the score of12th(boards),so stick this thing in your mind that u need to score well in boards..a good score in boards will reduce ur pressure somewhat, boost your morale n confidence n the jee exam fear will gradually fall down to some extent..i cant comment if u attend ur jr.college/school or not,but u need to respect your boards..thats d purpose of introducing new pattern of JEE mains..\ secondly,if ur aspiring for the 2 most wanted IITS-D n M..so ur target shld be JEE ADVANCE exam which requires constant dedication,smartwork,efforts..your counting of hours(quantity) signifies hardwork..wherein,you need smartwork(quality) which demands thorough knowledge of the syllabus chapterwise, unitwise n subjectwise n allotment of proper time henceforth..Time management is the most important pre-requisite for such competitve exams.its not about what u study, its about how u study stop counting hours..dont think that u may or may not..believe u will do it..dedicate 2 years for the cause.pick up a chapter..study with board point of view..when ur done then study the same wit jee point of view n solve sheets n questions. all d very best For more jee preparation tips like our facebook fan page > https://www.facebook.com/LiveLikeRoyal

Hello sir, Im Atul & I got AIR 7710(GEN) in JEE advncd this year wid 154 marks. I was not eligible for choice filling as Counselling cut-off was 156. My JEE Mains rank is 29000, which could not get me any NIT or IIIT. Board % are 92.4 in CBSE. I hv one attempt left for iit so I hv decided to drop this year. Should I join the same coaching institute in which I studied for two years or should I switch to any other?? Do all the FIITJEE centres all over India use the same study material ?? sum ppl say dat only FIITJEE Delhi centres are gud. In other cities dey are so-so.Is this true?? Plz ans..

Dear atul,im glad that u showed guts enough to take a drop..relax n reconsider your decision and then do what u finally decide n do it sith full confidence n focus..this jee coaching sector is commercialised now..coachings target 11th 12th regular students n their result reflects coachings result..faculties work hard on them..their success is institutes success..but being a dropper aint the same as regular students..u will get same coaching n lectures n materials as regular students.but the i stitute doesnt count or depends upon the results of droppers..so its only yu now who has to work hard to achieve success..they will teach you but ur result will b solely urs..no moral support or boost frm institute..get this thing in ur mind first.. Secondly i strongly believe change is permanent..if ur on the decision of taking a drop then its clear that u need a change in atmosphere n faculties..coz its not teachers k owledge or content, its teacher student tuning and students faith on his teacher makes him strong in that subject..so dedicate the whole year in a different institute..not the one which gave u a dropper tag Thirdly, apart from delhi, kota, hyderabad like huge centres all india centres are small..they even dont have compatible or able faculties..all india centres of any reputed institute like fitjee, narayana or bansal are a result of commercialisation.they are more like franchisees..the material will be same for a particular institute..for instance, fitjee delhi or kota has same materials..but the result depends on faculties n ur tuning with them..n ur faith with them. Hope this counselling session may guide yu n boost u with confidence..all d best for more iit jee preparation updates stay tuned with us by facebook fan page > https://www.facebook.com /LiveLikeRoyal Yuvraj pokharna Global education consultancy & Immigration services.+91-9998346666

Hello Shivani lets not talk about your past which includes sickness and depression..lets not talk about improvement exams n scholarships coz that is not the problem or confussion of yourslets us talk about Dos u need to do coaching is definitely gonna help u,if its genuine n so u shld join one..but u said your parents are not supporting you..either convince them on a fine morning to support your very first individual decision as an adult n ask them not to calculate this decision interms of right or wrong..incase they dont agree, follow the below steps: 1.complete ncert text reading and problem solving 2.go for books which are unitwise(1book for algebra,1for calculus, optics,n so likewise).. i recommend you arihant n cengage publications. 3.one month before u appear jee 2014,start solving mock papers+past jee papers for speed n accuracy..buy such books at or after february month.. for more iit jee preparation tips like us on facebook -> https://www.facebook.com/LiveLikeRoyal

You can purchase package from vidyamandir, fiitjee these are good institute. 1.IIT JEE is like achieveing salvation for aspiring enggineers..it doesnt count the number of hours or time u spend;rather it counts the quality time which demands proper management of time..which,in turn asks discipline, sincereness, determination and strong will power.. All i can advice is if u wanna be an IITan,u need to know your complete syllabus and each n every bit about the course.. a)Know what is your strengthmaths, physics or chemistry.. b)Arrange the subjects according to the strength c)do count the course, not time d)pick a chapter, study it in accordance to NCERT.After that, pick up a jee reference or material and complete that particular portion in accordance with Jee pattern-MCQs. d)School vs JEE-syllabus is d same..the difference lies in the attitude n approach which is to be followed.. School pattern involves lengthy methods..but jee patern spares less time so learn short cuts,tricks,pattern..thats where comes the role of a genuine reference book.

The list of books will be made by a group of well renowned faculties and bunch of students will be uploaded soon on the site. e)The problem may be the student sandwhiching between school and jee coaching..may be the school is moving way faster interms of the syllabus wherein, you are far behind.. Be confident and keep faith in yourself.school has just textbook, you have to deal with school text and tons of other texts For more article stay tuend with our facebook fan page > https://www.facebook.com/LiveLikeRoyal

It doesnt matter how much hours you can study study with full concentration matters.Just look at your syllabus and manage your time in a way that you can able to complete syllabus in your left time.Try to use each and every second because every third student have this situation.
