    Hear Reason or Shell Make You Feel Her!

    The above quote by Deist and key founder of America, Benjamin Franklin, points out the tragedy of the above photo. The people in the photo killed themselves because they rejected their God-given reason for man-made superstitions! These people died at Jonestown, the cult headquarters set up by Jim Jones. Jim Jones was a Christian minister who preyed on his victims lack of reasoning skills. First, they gave up some of their reason to believe in the Bible and Christianity, then a little more to believe in Jim Jones and his prophecies. Once you give up your reason for anything you are setting a precedent to do it again. Unlike all of the revealed religions, Deism is belief in God based on our reason as applied to Nature. The designs/laws of Nature point us to their Designer. This leaves no room for cults, whether its Jim Jones, David Koresh, Marshall Applewhite or Jesus, Moses and the Pope! Being grounded on our God-given reason we as Deists are protected from all cults!
