FIREARMS INSTRUCTOR
Instructor certification is our most important responsibility. Teaching officers to instruct others in the fundamentals of firearms utilization and survival requires preparation. In addition to basic instructional skills development with the revolver, pistol and shotgun, methods of instruction, range operation/exercises, lesson plan development, liability and handgun flashlight techniques will be covered.
RANGE MASTER
This course will assist the officer in developing integrated training programs in the areas of law enforcement handgun, shotgun, patrol rifle, submachine gun and precision rifle and will also cover range design and the regulations and health hazards of firearms ranges. As this is an advanced course, the student will need to have attended a previous 40-hour firearms instructor school. Instructor: Mike Carter
HANDCUFFING INSTRUCTOR
Handcuffing techniques are the centerpoint for many assaults on officers and much litigation concerning the use of force. This course is designed to give the instructor the necessary background to conduct a comprehensive handcuffing program for his or her agency.

INSTRUCTOR RECERTIFICATION POLICY

ADVANCED HANDGUN INSTRUCTOR The following 2 courses must be successfully completed in order to be eligible for this certification: 1. Tactical Pistol, and 2. Successful completion of these courses will enable the armorer to keep their department firearms in safe operating condition. These courses will concentrate on the function of various parts, fitting procedures, and inspection techniques to keep their firearm within factory standards. When attending a course at the Smith & Wesson Academy in Springfield, MA, a hi-tech video system is used with large screen monitors to demonstrate these procedures in real time. Also, easy-to-follow, step-by-step manuals are used to enhance the students comprehension of these courses. Courses can be completed at the Smith & Wesson Academy or at field schools around the country. Students attending S&W Armorers training from outside the United States will require a DSP5 license from the State Department to take a technical manual out of the U.S. For more information, please call 413-846-6461.
