BenMarina y yo vivimos en Madrid, la capital de Espaa. Marina, cmo es Madrid? MarinaEs una ciudad bastante grande. Tiene aproximadamente 4,5 millones de habitantes. BenY yo creo que cada habitante tiene un coche. MarinaNo! BenPuf. Hay mucho trfico en Madrid. MarinaS hay mucho trfico pero no todos los habitantes tienen un coche. BenPero por la maana hay muchos atascos. MarinaS, y mucho ruido tambin. BenS Madrid es una ciudad muy ruidosa. Mhm. Y vienen muchos turistas a Madrid? BenMarina and I live in Madrid, the capital of Spain. Marina, What is Madrid like? MarinaIts quite a big city. It has around 4.5 million inhabitants. BenAnd I think every one of them has a car! MarinaNo! BenHuh. Theres a lot of traffic in Madrid. MarinaYes, there is a lot of traffic, but not every inhabitant has a car. BenBut in the morning there are lots of traffic jams. MarinaYes, and a lot of noise as well. BenYes, Madrid is a very noisy city. Mmmm. And do lots of tourists come to Madrid? MarinaYes, they mainly come to see the museums in Madrid. BenMmmm. MarinaThe most important of all is El Prado. BenAnd what else do the tourists do in Madrid? MarinaWell, they go to restaurants and bars, and they like eating tapas. BenI think that in Madrid there are thousands of bars, and people go out a lot at night. There is a lot of nightlife. MarinaYes, people meet at night to have a drink with their friends. BenAnd until 4 or 5 in the morning. MarinaAt the weekends, yes. BenAnd on Mondays? MarinaNo. BenAnd what is your favourite place in Madrid? MarinaThe Retiro park. Its a park in the centre of the city, and its very beautiful. BenWell, my favourite place is the Plaza Mayor. Its a four hundred year old square. MarinaYes. BenAnd its a very beautiful square. MarinaWith a lot of atmosphere. BenYes, a lot of noise, like the rest of the city!

MarinaBecause it rains a lot more in England than in Spain. BenIts always raining in England. Its very hot here but not all year round, because in Madrid, whats the weather like in the winter? MarinaIn winter its quite cold. BenYes, in summer its very hot in Madrid. In summer its hotter in Madrid than in Oxford. MarinaA lot hotter. BenYes. MarinaAnd which do you prefer, Oxford or Madrid? What do you do when someone is really annoying / bugging you and you want a quick, cool way of getting rid of them in Spanish? You say: No me toques las narices! - Stop bugging me! The literal translation is Dont touch my noses, a bit strange we have to admit! Still, this phrase should be pretty useful next time your little sister / husband / mother-in-law is driving you up the wall!
