This resource document is a compilation of selections listed in the current Royal Conservatory of Music and Conservatory Canada syllabi including the selection name, composer, and the grade and syllabus in which it is listed. The Winnipeg Music Festival created these files to assist with their proofreading and has made them available to all festivals in the Province. Although it is no longer required that students select repertoire directly from RCM/CC lists the AMAF syllabus still includes the following note: Repertoire graded by RCM/CC must be performed at the grade(s) listed in their syllabi. Festivals may use the syllabus compilation resource to confirm whether or not a selection is graded and at which grade it appears.
HOW TO USE THIS RESOURCE Selections are sorted as follows, 1. 2. Alphabetically by composers last name Alphabetically by selection title
The Winnipeg Music Festival and AMAF have endeavoured to make this list as complete and accurate as possible, however if you do suspect an error has been made, please contact the AMAF office. It is recommended that you also check the RCM and CC websites for current errata. NOTE: All festival entries must adhere to the class descriptions and regulations in the AMAF Provincial Syllabus which takes precedence over the RCM and CC syllabi. Example 1: The RCM and CC syllabi often list multi-movement works (such as sonatas and concertos) in their entirety. In some cases we have been able to determine the number of movements in the piece and list them in the resource as individual selections. Where we were unable to determine the number of movements in the piece, it is listed in the resource as the complete work but when entering at the local festival the participant may play only the required number of movements. Example 2: The AMAF syllabus defines selection by saying: Unless otherwise indicated in THIS syllabus, the word selection refers to ONE piece by a composer, and not two or more short pieces from a collection or cycle. To clarify: RCM piano, Grade 7, List D shows Pink and Crimson (two separate pieces) by Robert Starer as one item on an exam. In an AMAF festival, only one of the two pieces (Pink OR Crimson) is to be played in a class. If you require further clarification, please contact the AMAF office.
Scroll down the list to find the composer and locate the selection in the list of his/her pieces. Confirm that the participant has entered the piece at the appropriate grade in your festival. You may also use the Find function in the Adobe Acrobat Edit menu to search for all or part of a composer or selection name. While proofreading selections please keep the following in mind: i. RCM and CC sometimes differ on their opinion of which grade a selection should be listed so a piece may appear twice in the compilation at two different grades, one from each syllabus. Movements of a sonata or other multi-movement work may be identified by a movement number or a name/tempo marking. What is listed in the compilation may not be what a participant puts on their entry form in which case you may need to contact the participant/teacher for further information.

iii. Similar to ii it is possible for a selection to be known by more th an one name, ex. Piano Sonata no. 14 in C sharp minor, op. 27, no. 2 by Beethoven is also known as the Moonlight Sonata. iv. Composer pseudonyms and arrangers are included in parenthesis following the composer name.
