1.1 Positioning
Overview
By keeping up with the rapid development in the field of wireless communications, the wireless communication network becomes more reliable. However, for the blind spot coverage and private network with specific coverage, capacity, and service requirements, more flexible solutions are required. Customer-oriented and innovative, Huawei unveils the industry-leading BTS3900B GSM compact pico BTS (hereafter referred to as the BTS3900B). With the volume of only 2 L, the BTS3900B integrates multiple functional units of the traditional BTS, enabling multiple functions of the traditional BTS. Incorporated with the compact and noiseless design, as well as the support of IP transport, the BTS3900B features flexible site selection possibility and easy installation, enabling fast and cost-effective blind spot coverage. In addition, the BTS3900B provides effective services to small office buildings and Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) with the private network. As an intelligent BTS, the BTS3900B features automatic data configuration, and automatic frequency configuration, enabling convenient deployment and maintenance of the BTS. The BTS3900B supports dual-band network configuration and a maximum of two carriers. Figure 1-1 shows the BTS3900B. Figure 1-1 BTS3900B

1.2 Benefits
Simple Structure and Quick Network Construction
The BTS3900B is 2 L in volume and 1.5 kg in weight, one of the smallest pico BTS ever developed in the industry. No dedicated equipment room is required for the BTS3900B, and it can be easily installed by one person with few common tools. The compact and integrated design of the BTS3900B facilitates installation, removal, and fast deployment. The BTS3900B supports automatic data configuration, and automatic frequency configuration, enabling the provision of services in a short time.

2.1 Overview
T
Architecture
The BTS3900B adopts highly integrated design. The functions such as transmission, main control, baseband processing, RF processing, and power amplifying of the traditional BTS are all integrated in the BTS3900B.
2.2 Components
The main components of the BTS3900B consist of the baseband processing board, RF module, and plastic housing. The baseband processing board processes baseband signals and implements main control and transmission functions, and the RF module transmits, receives, and processes RF signals. If AC power supply is used, the power adapter is required for the BTS3900B. The power adapter converts the AC power into the working voltage of the BTS3900B. If the PoE mode is adopted, external PoE power equipment must be configured. The PoE power equipment supplies power to the BTS3900B through the Ethernet cable. In this case, the power adapter is not required. The BTS3900B can be employed with built-in antennas or external antennas. Figure 2-1 shows the BTS3900B with external antennas and BTS3900B with built-in antennas.

Application Scenarios
The BTS3900B is small and compact, works in mute mode, and occupies a small space. Therefore, the BTS3900B can easily be installed in a proper place without affecting the life and work of people. The BTS3900B can be installed on a wall, in the void of a suspended ceiling, or on a ceiling according to actual conditions. The BTS3900B can be easily and quickly installed with few common tools. Figure 3-1 shows the typical installation options of the BTS3900B.

Indoor Coverage
Along with the development of cities, the indoor mobile application has become widespread. For indoor coverage scenarios, however, operators are facing great challenges from the perspective of site selection and construction speed. If macro BTSs are used to serve indoor coverage, operators are frequently confronted with high lease cost of equipment rooms, and the noises generated by macro BTSs make site acquisition even more difficult. Therefore, operators are pressing for a BTS that places the equipment room in dispensable and generates low noises. In indoor coverage scenarios, the BTS may be installed in locations such as the light-current shaft, or storeroom. Such locations present complicated environment, confined installation space, and highly difficult installation, which requires the BTS compact, light, and possessed with strong environment adaptability. Attributing to its compact structure, zero-noise design, and marvelous performance, the BTS3900E aids operators in constructing an indoor network with high capacity and good coverage. Such network, without doubt, brings more benefits for operators. As a signal source, the BTS3900E, combined with the DAS, can be widely applied in indoor coverage scenarios that require high capacity and quality, such as hotels, office buildings, supermarkets, and business centers. Figure 3-2 shows one of the application scenarios. Figure 3-2 Typical application scenario
