WHAT IS REVOLUTION HUNGER ?

sm
Revolution Hunger is an online initiative that empowers teens to tackle hunger and malnutrition worldwide. It is a campaign that arms teens with information about hungers causes and solutions and challenges them with calls to action to fight the issue right from a computer and in local communities. Revolution Hunger is unique. It is a global movement to create the next generation of Hunger Fighters and encourages teens to take on the fight against hunger in their lives and careers. Current efforts have helped, but they have not ended hunger. Revolution Hunger challenges this situation and asks: what if instead of 25,000 people dying, we had hundreds of thousands of people fighting hunger every day?

To end hunger, we need a revolution and we believe teens are an important driving force to its success. By becoming a Hunger Fighter, teens will join people working in their own communities, those living in areas affected by hunger and professionals around the world who are already seeding the revolution to end hunger. We need youth artists, writers, community workers, aspiring engineers and scientists, poets, athletes, band members and others to know that they can use their passion, talents and skills to fight hunger.

We need teachers and school counselors, community activists, faith-based leaders, parents, corporate leaders, politicians, celebrities and others. Help us support teens as they commit to putting an end to the 25,000 hunger-related deaths that occur each day.

people affected by hunger are more susceptible to disease. Hunger ruins a persons capacity to be healthy and happy. It destroys the ability to lIve. Hungry people are everywherein rural villages, large cities and even in our own communities and neighborhoods. Hunger exists in rich countries and poor countries. It affects children and adults. Hunger and malnutrition are all around us, but can often be out of sight.

WHY DOES HUNGER EXIST?

There is no uniquely identifiable reason for why hunger exists. Hunger is a problem with a multitude of causes such as natural disasters, inadequate government policies, a lack of efficient farming tools and techniques, poor health, poor education, poverty, war and conflict. Just as there is no one cause of hunger, there is no one solution. For this reason, people from all backgrounds, skills and interests are needed to stop world hunger. no one can effectively fight hunger alone, but together, we can fight hunger and win.

Those who are hungry live in a continuous state of weakness and desperation with little knowledge of where their next meal will come from. When a person is chronically malnourished, their minds and bodies are significantly compromised. Hungry people are less capable of working and learning than people who are well fed.
