About this ebook

It was the morning of Howard's eighth birthday and he was feeling very sorry for himself. His embarrassing grandmother was insisting on taking him to listen to the symphony orchestra! Talking to old people and listening to boring music all afternoon was not Howard's idea of a fun birthday outing. Stuffed into a new jacket and tie, cheered on by his best friend, Thandi, Howard reluctantly left for the theatre.
So began Howard's exciting journey into the world of music, where he discovers his own talent and the courage to pursue it.
Orchestral performances and sound-bytes of the instruments are available on the Howard and the Orchestra Audio book also available on Smashwords

Charon Williams-Ros

Charon Williams-Ros is a writer, teacher and award-winning actor. She has led what she describes as ‘an eclectic life’, one that has taken her to live on two continents and pursue several different careers.Born in the UK, Charon matriculated in South Africa and went on to qualify as a nurse. Since then she has completed a Bachelor’s degree in English and Psychology, taught English and Music and spent many years as a voice coach. The founder of Williams-Ros Studios which trained up a host of talented singers, she decided to form an agency to promote that talent. When the talent exceeded the available work, she began to write and direct musical revues to showcase the talent, winning a Durban Theatre Award for Best Musical Revue in the process. She became a popular vocal director for countless musicals (winning another DTA), and directed the gala openings for several international corporate events throughout South Africa. In 2000, she teamed up with close friend, Toni D’amant to write and perform in ‘Desperately Seeking Prince Charming’, her first foray into feminist theatre. The production saw two successful runs in Durban, South Africa. In 2011, Charon returned to performing and spent the next seven years touring South Africa, winning every South African musical theatre award including the Fleur du Cap Award and the Naledi Award.Since retiring from the stage, and now living mostly in the UK, Charon has devoted her time to writing. A collaborative theatre book, ‘Curtain Up’ is currently in development with Nick Hern Books in London; Her children’s book, ‘Howard and the Orchestra’ was released this year; and a four-part mini-series for television ‘The Feminine’ is currently under consideration.
