Meditations for Financial Freedom Vol 2 - DeForest B. Soaries, Jr

    INTRODUCTION

Welcome to Meditations for Financial Freedom Volume 2!

In my books, Meditations for Financial Freedom Vol.1, Say Yes to No Debt, dfree®: Breaking Free from Financial Slavery, and dfree® Lifestyle: 12 Steps to Financial Freedom, I offer the best advice I could muster to inspire people to set and achieve financial goals. The results have been rewarding and fulfilling. And the process always begins with eliminating debt, controlling spending and remaining focused on one’s goals.

What I have discovered is that many people get started on their respective roads to financial freedom but have a difficult time sustaining their successes. In some cases, people actually eliminate all of their debt and start making substantial investments only to fall right back into their spending binges and debt-driven lifestyles.

In my teaching, I advise people to read materials that will enhance their knowledge about finances and help them stay on their respective courses. In fact, I have stated that all of us should spend AT LEAST seven minutes every day doing something about our finances. These meditational readings were created to offer a resource for those that have chosen to do just that.

Meditations for Financial Freedom is an extension of the steps we are taking on the Journey to Financial Freedom™. The series is designed to be used during a one-month period, starting on any given day in any month. This being the second in a twelve-volume set, most readers find it helpful to start from the very beginning – Volume 1. You will notice that from Volume 1, the readings begin in the book of Genesis and, in subsequent volumes, continue to proceed chronologically through the books of the Bible. If you complete all twelve volumes, you would have considered texts from every book of the Bible!

Every one of these daily readings has four elements: a verse of scripture, a thought to ponder, a prayer to offer, and a decision to act. I believe that is our formula for success: a word from God, a thought about that word, a prayer that embraces what we learn from God’s word, and a decision to take an action that gets us closer to our goal.

My prayer is that you will find this a useful resource as you maintain your commitment to achieving and maintaining financial freedom.

    DAY 1 - INTEGRITY

    Verse

But Balaam answered them, Even if Balak [the king] gave me all the silver and gold in his palace, I could not do anything great or small to go beyond the command of the Lord my God. Numbers 22:18 NIV.

    Thought

It is always tragic when we learn about a person who loses a position or is convicted of a crime as a result of some indiscretion. More often than not, such people are very intelligent, well-educated and hold responsible jobs. However, it is their lack of moral judgement and common sense that ends their careers. What is so astounding is that these people actually believe they can get away with the same actions that have placed thousands of others in jeopardy and in jail. And it is almost always related to money.

King Balak asked Balaam to do something which would have violated instructions he had received from God. His response was that there was no amount of silver or gold the king could pay that would cause him to disobey the command of God. We would call Balaam’s decision integrity.
