      Chapter 1

      What Is Salvation?

      Salvation explains certain experiences, certain occurrences and changes that are able to transform the soul of a person. From the scriptures, we understand that a human-being constitutes of three individual yet inter-related parts; the spirit, the soul and the body.

      And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

      1Thessalonians 5:23

      Therefore Salvation is the change and transformation that is able to affect the spirit, the soul and the body of a person. You can be completely changed and be transformed so much that your past will have no bearing on your present and future circumstances. You can become a totally different person from who you are now. Believe it!

      Salvation as a broad topic is expressed in different ways. From the scriptures, salvation is defined using three different expressions.

      1.Sozo (pronounced as sode-zo)

      This type of Salvation means to literally deliver, to protect, to heal, to preserve life, to save (the self), to redeem the soul, to make or be made whole. Sozo salvation directly affects the human spirit.

      And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

      Mathew 1:21

      2. Soteria (pronounced as so-tay-ree-ah)

      This type of Salvation means to rescue a person morally or intellectually. It also means to bring health or relief, and to bring some form of mental deliverance and change. Simply put, Soteria salvation brings mental, moral or physical freedom. This type of Salvation affects the human soul.

      And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken anything from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.

      And Jesus said unto him, this day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham. For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

      Luke 19:8-10

      3.Soterion (so-tay-ree-on)

      Finally this type of Salvation brings physical deliverance. It can also be explained as deliverance as a result of being defended, or escaping judgment as a result of a good defense attorney coming to your rescue.

      For example a good lawyer saving a person from being cast into prison. This type of Salvation also delivers the physical body.

      For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.

      Acts 28:27-28

      It is my intention in this chapter is for us to expound on the subject of Sozo; the Salvation that affects the self or the soul of a person. A person can experience all the other forms of salvation but if he loses the salvation of (his self) his soul, he is eternally doomed and lost to Satan and the hordes of Hell.

      And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

      Mathew 10:28

      For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?

      Luke 9:25

      What is Sozo Salvation- The Salvation of the Human Soul

      And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

      Mathew 1:21

      One of the main prophecies about Jesus Christ was His special ability to extend the Sozo type of Salvation to the Jews first and then to the rest of the world. Like I have already explained, this type of Salvation converts the soul of a person.
