    2 OCTOBER 1869

    Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi is born in Porbandar, India, to Karamchand and Putlibai Gandhi. He was the youngest son of his father’s fourth marriage, with five older siblings.

    MAY 1883

    Gandhi marries Kasturbai Makhanji in an arranged marriage. Gandhi was 13 years old and Kasturbai was 14 years old. The couple would remain together until her death in 1944.
