      Preface

      Temptation is a thing that every one faces at various degrees and times. It is a problem that needs urgent attention. Many people fall into temptation not because they want to, but because they lack the knowledge and ability to resist it. Some has resolved in their hearts several times that they will not indulge in certain evil habits anymore but still find themselves falling victim of same habit or life style again and again.

      In this book we will examine very important issues about temptation. We shall consider the causes of temptation; this will help you to guard against them and to discover how to live above them. Knowing the cause of your problem will give an edge over that problem. This knowledge will help you to discover the remedy.

      The solutions prescribed in this book may not be exhaustive but serves as a guide to help you overcome other related trials. The word of God is very clear that it is the will of God for you to live a victorious life. That is why He provided preventive measures in the scriptures. He also pointed out in the scriptures that there are rewards and blessing that awaits all that will live victoriously. These blessings have eternal value and should not be neglected. It is the winners that receive the trophy. People that fail to observe the rule(s) of the game never receives the trophy. As you obey God’s word and overcome trials and temptations, you will receive the trophy at the end. Unlike the worldly trophy which only very few individuals who out do others receives, the heavenly trophy is received by all who served God faithfully all the days of their lives. It is not just a selected few but all who whole heartedly serve the lord.

      Blessed (happy, to be envied) is the man who is patient under trial and stands up under temptation, for when he has stood the test and been approved, he will receive [the victor’s] crown of life which God has promised to those who love Him (James 1:12 Amp).

      CHAPTER ONE

      BASIC ISSUES ABOUT TEMPTATION

      The history of temptation is as old as the history of the human raise. The Bible recorded that man was tempted in the Garden of Eden. Beginning with Adam and Eve, the human raise has been subject to various kinds of temptation. The old and the young, the spiritual and the unspiritual,
