About this ebook

A psychologist paralyzed by fear.

A mother propelled by love.

A stalker bent on destruction.

Psychology professor Dr. Denilyn Rossi contends that the past is either a shadow that haunts us or a force that propels us. The choice is ours, she tells her students. What she doesn’t tell them is that her own past is a shadow she can’t seem to shake. Fear has immobilized her and is taking a costly toll.

Adelia Sanchez, however, has embraced Dr. Rossi’s teaching. She is ready to confront fear and render it powerless—using the trauma of her past to propel her to entrap the man who stalked and brutally attacked her.

As Denilyn’s past and Adelia’s present converge at the Kaweah River, a dangerous man bent on destruction threatens them both. Will he uncover the secret Deni and Adelia have fought so hard to protect?

I have loved many of this author's books. I have found them deep and moving. This was a new genre for her and it showed but I'm sure the next one will be better

Delivering an intriguing suspense, Convergence will not be the last of Ginny L. Yttrup’s books I read. Dr. Denilyn Rossi and Adelia Sanchez both have fear to confront. Each character gets her voice as the twisty story unfolds, and I enjoyed getting to know them, discovering their stories—which kept me on my toes, so to speak. Whenever I thought I had it all figured out, a new twist would make me rethink everything.Definitely an entertaining read—fast-paced, psychologically thrilling, but not without hope—Convergence is a book for suspense readers to add to the TBR.I received a complimentary copy of this book and the opportunity to provide an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review, and all the opinions I have expressed are my own.

"Convergence" was my first time reading a book written by Ginny L. Yttrup and won't be the last. This book is defiantly an action, thriller, and suspense. We are taken into Dr. Deni who is a psychology professor life. We read about the stalker who changed Dr. Deni's life. She now suffers from PTSD. At times it can be confusing when it flips between the past and present. Its narrated by Deni and Adella. The flashbacks are narrated by Deni. Pay attention to the dates so you can follow the story better. I didn't pay attention to the dates on the chapters until the 10th chapter. The beginning was on the slow pace side but once I got towards the middle more it became a page-turner. Ginny L.Yttrup did a great job of making lots of plot twists, as well as, making this story sound like it could have actually happened to someone. I would highly recommend this book.

Psychology professor Dr. Denilyn Rossi Often advises her students that their past can either disable them or help them to become strong and successful. She doesn’t follow her own advice and seems to be paralyzed by fear of a past stalker. It is difficult to take a psychology professor seriously when she doesn’t address her own issues. It was difficult for me to get into this book but by the fifth chapter or so things began to pick up. The intermingled timelines were a little confusing to follow at times. This was well written but the author was a bit overly detailed. I liked it but I didn’t love it.

This was the first book I read by this author and will not be my last. I did not want to put this book down until I got to the end. I loved all the twists and turns that occurred. I was so wrapped up in all of the characters lives. I loved all the surprises throughout. I received a copy of this book from Celebratelit and Barbour Publishing for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

This book takes readers on a roller coaster ride with thrills and suspense at every turn. The author delivers a powerful story of survival and overcoming fear. i loved the main character and thought she was brave, intelligent and determined. Denilyn has been through a traumatic event that has caused her to live in fear. She is paralyzed at times to even venture outside for fun. The details of her attack are terrifying and gave me chills. Being stalked would make anyone paranoid and Denilyn will have to face danger after danger as someone closes in on her once again. It begins to take an emotional toil on her and she starts to think she imagining things.I loved the way the author told the story from present to past. It lets readers see a glimpse of what happened and how Denilyn has tried to overcome her fears. I thought it was fascinating that she wrote a book about bullies. A stalker really is a bully that wants to have power over you. Terror finds Denilyn years later and mysterious things start happening again. The author does a good job of showing how a person deals with danger and the support system that is vital to Denilyn. The addition of Adelia to the mix was very intriguing. What do these two women have in common? Will Denilyn be able to finally find peace or will her past continue to haunt her? There is much more intricate parts to this story that are revealed slowly. I felt like Denilyn was on the verge of losing control at times and loved how she reached out for help. I thought about the people surrounding Denilyn and wondered if they could all be trusted. There are times in the book where i felt the author might have dragged the story out a bit too long. I wanted to know more about Willow and she seemed to be an afterthought at the end of the book. To me she was an important part of Denilyn's story and helped put the suspicion on the right person. Overall the book was good and it definitely delivered a chilling account of stalking that had me glued to my seat. It is a hard book to put down and I had to finish the book because I had to know if Denilyn would survive.I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

Convergence is a departure of sorts for Ginny Yttrup. While the suspense genre is new for her, fans of her excellent writing will soon find that Yttrup doesn’t skimp when it comes to the character development and meticulous plotting that she is known for. What you get with this novel is an amped-up, well-crafted novel. I was drawn in from the first page, tossed about with the twists and turns, and left with a very satisfied, catch-my-breath ending. Convergence earns a recommended rating. The structure of Convergence is unique. Two story lines, both set at differing times, march along until they converge. The first person accounts by Denilyn Rossi and Adelia Sanchez are very strong and give the reader a good look at the emotions, fears, and determination of the two women. Denilyn’s story is fleshed out by recollections from the past. Denilyn, a psychologist with an expertise in bullying, has been the victim of stalking. Her past experiences color her world, and when she again feels threatened she is determined not to ignore her instincts. The facts of the book are revealed slowly through the two women’s accounts which increases the suspense for the characters and the reader. This reader was surprised over and over. The cat-and-mouse between the women and the unknown assailant is very effective in keeping the pages turning. Fear is a prime motivator for Denilyn and Adelia, and their attempts to control their circumstances often leave them with a feeling that security is only a facade. I liked how the author shows that surrender to God is the only way to truly alleviate fear.If you are looking for an unpredictable suspense novel, then Convergence is a good choice. With its strong female characters, unique framework, and twisting plot, it leaves me eager for more of the same from Yttrup.Recommended.Audience: adults.(Thanks to the publisher for a complimentary copy. What a ride! This book is as twisting and emotionally charged as a trip down the Kaweah whitewater rapids! With nail-biting suspense, the unyielding pace of the narrative never relents, and although this is not a horror novel, the creep factor was real enough and the scenario so plausible on a certain level that I would not want to read this while home alone. There was enough tension to keep the pages turning at a rapid pace, and the author set up a chilling degree of apprehension. I thought that the ordeal of PTSD and the psychological aspect of trauma enhanced the story, particularly given that Denilyn Rossi was herself a psychologist. This is as much a psychological thriller as it is a suspense novel. The Christian element is mostly subtle but does become more prevalent toward the end. My bone of contention with “Convergence” is its execution. Initially I attributed my confusion to the fact that I went into this book blind because I prefer not to read the summary, especially for this genre, but even afterward, when I did explore the synopsis, I realized that it would not have put me any farther ahead. Overall, I thought that this was a great story, but it was bogged down by too many complexities, which only multiplied as the story progressed. The shifting dual first-person narrative viewpoints and two different time settings made it difficult to stay abreast of what was happening to whom and when. Without giving any spoilers, this issue becomes even more complicated toward the novel’s denouement. Speaking of which, I had to step back and rethink the book from the beginning when the puzzle pieces began falling into place. Still, things did not quite fit for me with regard to Denilyn and Adelia. One of the main objects of psychological thrillers is to shock the reader, but in this case everything felt too contrived and bewildering, vacillating from one side to the other until the story became a Gordian knot of sorts. Nevertheless, I truly did enjoy this story and would recommend it to those who don’t mind a wild ride full of intricacies and revelations.I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.

Reading this book reminded me of working a thousand piece puzzle. The puzzle frame may be fairly easy to piece together and the inside pieces may appear to go in a certain place until you actually start fitting them together. This book was the same. Just when I thought I had it figured out, a clue would pop up and suddenly, I found myself wrong again! Convergence is Ginny Yttrup's first attempt at writing suspense and she certainly succeeded in keeping me guessing. The story involves two women who have both been traumatized by unwanted attentions from men and one of these women has been stalked for over eight years. Readers are drawn into the lives of Psychology professor Dr. Denilyn Rossi and her deceased friend Adelia Sanchez and in flashbacks and alternating timelines we are shown their attempts to overcome the fears of being stalked. After a series of troubling events and attempts on her life Dr. Rossi decides that she will no longer be a victim. In her struggle to fight back Denilyn begins to seek the strength that she once derived from her faith in God. She asks a colleague how he is able to believe in and trust in God when bad things happen and he tells her "On those days when doubts plague me, I ask His help to believe what I can't see. That's faith, believing what we can't see. And in this world, we can't always see goodness." (p. 98) Convergence is filled with suspense and "edge of your seat" adventure and it is also a thrilling study of pysychological warfare and the psychopathic mind. It also stresses the resilience of the human spirit and the power of believing in a higher power. We witness Denilyn as she asks God for the strength and guidance that only He can offer and we rejoice as she gains a new awareness of herself and realizes that "God didn't give me a spirit of fear, but rather a spirit of love, and a spirit of power." (p. 313). I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys Christian suspense fiction.I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.

This is a powerful story of determination, fear, trust in God, manipulation and more. I couldn’t put this book down. I was involved in the story from the get-go. I found the story unique, entertaining and targeted to the heart. The story uses flashbacks to Deni’s and Adelia’s past so readers get a history of their friendship. Seeing God work in Deni’s life was a “wow” experience and watching her emerge from her cocoon of fear to one of supreme confidence in God was amazing. This was a great debut suspense work from this author’s pen, and I look forward to more suspense from her hopefully.

'You drown not by falling into the river, but by staying submerged in it.' Paulo CoelhoWow! Incredibly well written novel that had me wondering from the beginning if it would ever make sense to me. Denilyn, a psychology professor and published author, has a past that is slowly unraveled throughout this book. Stalking, assault, accidents, psychological abuse and more keep you at the edge of your seat the whole time wondering who really is behind it all. It is only as she learns that trust is a choice not a feeling, faith is believing in what you can't see and to be on the offensive is the best way to finally experience freedom!'Sometimes in stillness, when we've quieted our minds, we hear from God'. I received this advance copy through Barbour Publishing, NetGalley and CelebrateLit. All impressions and opinions are my own.

I quickly became a fan of Ginny Yttrup’s writing style after reading her story, Home, in 2017. Even though I’m not usually a fan of present tense writing, I loved how Ms. Yttrup mastered it! The story stayed with me, so I really looked forward to reading her new book. Ms. Yttrup’s writer’s voice in Convergence feels so much different than her previous writing. This book is heavier on suspense, and deals with topics of stalking, PTSD, and fear. The first pages pulled me in, and I connected with Dani and sympathized with her. I liked her friend, and the spiritual vein throughout the story kept me reading.Although the story drew me in quickly, I was never fully immersed in the story. I don’t normally read psychological thrillers, so that’s probably part of it, but also because, in the back of my mind, I kept thinking about how I enjoyed Home so much more. First Line (Chapter One): I inhale, filling my lungs with cold air.I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.

They've robbed me of myself. There is no shame in the realization. The fear is not unfounded. If only it were. But how long will I allow those who've staged these attacks to rule me?Years ago, psychologist Denilyn Rossi struck a chord across the nation with her bestselling book about bullying. But fear is taking over her personal life, on account of a brutal attack in her past and the possibility that the man who once stalked her might be back in Convergence by author Ginny L. Yttrup.I really liked or loved various aspects of this novel. It doesn't shy away from tough issues, including post-traumatic stress disorder, divorce, living with the phantom of fear, and the cost of brushing aside your instincts. The plot has good mental twists, and what I appreciate most about the book is that it isn't a "whimpering damsel in distress" tale. Yes, Deni has her struggles and weaknesses, like any human being, but when it's time for her to stand up, she stands up.However, for a suspense novel, I found this one to be slow, and I had to push through parts where I started to lose interest. A number of scenes are given to descriptions of little mundane activities and a lot of contemplation and ambling through internal questions, some of which may not be necessary. After a great turning point when I thought the story's pace would pick up, it stretched into a long, sometimes evasive wait before the climax, with Deni's faith reflections becoming redundant, as if trying to explain a message that was already clear. The book also has a recurring little issue of missing quotation marks, which jars the reading at times.Nevertheless, for the overall story, I'd recommend this novel to fellow fans of ChristFic suspense.____________I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.
