ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

––––––––

I want to acknowledge my family for allowing me to dedicate time for this research. Any research is time-consuming and it requires an attentive mind. Recently one of my students of Vedic Math came to me for selling handmade bookmarks. The bookmarks had various quotes and one of the quotes was ‘If you don’t find something that you want to read then write one’. I consider this event as an acknowledgement of this work and acknowledge it here. When I explained this concept to my father, he realized the value and encouraged me to spread it across the globe.  Additionally, I met Shree Arun Vaze a Yadnik for understanding Vedhic references of Nakshathra. My very old friend Shree Dharmendra Sharma beautifully designed the cover of this book as a token of his love towards me. I want to acknowledge all of them for their support, sharing knowledge and investing time.

I also want to thank all my readers for tremendous response and feedback. I am pleased to release the 3rd edition of this book in just 6 months. In this edition, I have added a method to locate underground water sources based on Nakshathra trees. This wouldn’t have been possible without your love and support.

Conventions Used in this book to convert Savskruth (Sanskrit) words into English

Savskruth is a phonetic language and it has specific sounds. Unfortunately, not all those sounds are available in English. Due to this limitation, everyone tries to find the nearest sound while converting Savskruth word into English. We plan to follow certain rules for the sake of consistency. In Savskruth, sounds are grouped by the part or muscle of the mouth or face exercised to pronounce the sound. For example, Pa or Pha is considered as sound exercising lips (Oshthya) and Tha is considered as a sound exercising teeth (Dhantya). Certain conventions used to convert Savskruth sounds in English do not give proper pronunciation because the group of a sound is changed while conversion. Generally, ta is replaced by ta (T). However, ta and T are from different groups. ta, is Dantya (pronounced by touching the tongue to teeth) and T (ta) is Moordhnya (pronounced by rolling the tongue). Therefore, we have replaced it with another sound from the same group, for example, qa or tha. The southern part of India follows this methodology for years, but many aren’t sure why it was done and they feel it is incorrect. Hence, I wanted to explain it here before following the method.

Another rule is about Anuswar or dot on any letter. Take an example of word Sanskrit. Word Sanskrit is grammatically incorrect. The rule says that use an Anunasik (generally last sound) from the same group (Varga) on which the Anuswar is to be given. For example, in the case of Savskruth, Anuswar is on Sa. Sound Sa is from Ya Varga. Anunasik for Ya Varga is Va. Therefore, the word is Savskruth and not Sanskrit. I have explained these concepts in depth in my book ‘Eva and Shiva’.

General practice is to use ‘S’ for plurals even though the word is from other languages. For example, we say Grahas as a plural of Graha. In this book, I have kept Graha as Graha for singular as well as plural as we are not used to Savskruth plurals. Ideally, the plural of Graha is Grahaha.

Unlike many languages, Savskruth follows maximum rules of grammar. To maintain the grace of any language, we shall follow its rules to the maximum extent. I attempt to maintain the purity of the language and I have followed above conventions in this book. I highly encourage you to learn the basics of Savskruth as you have interest in Vedic astrology.

Terms used in the book and their meaning

I have used many terms specific to Vedhic astrology in this book. It is intentional. When we learn any subject, we learn terms related to the topic and I would like you all to learn terms specific to Vedhic astrology. To ease the challenge, below table gives a list of the terms and their equivalent. I encourage you to go through the table and keep it handy as you start reading the next chapter.

1. PURPOSE

––––––––

Nakshathra plays an important role in Vedhic astrology. It is effectively used in some areas of Vedhic astrology but not used in some other areas. The count of Nakshathra makes Nakshathra Jyothish more challenging as compared to Rashi Jyothish. Originally Vedhic Jyothish was Nakshathra based and over the period it was isolated from Vedha. I am not sure if this happened naturally or it was done intentionally.

Even though we say Vedha is wisdom, we don’t know how to interpret Vedha. This has limited our ability to understand the meaning of Vedha. Thankfully this knowledge is being passed from generation to generation and we may look at it from a fresh perspective.

Nakshathra has been an integrated part of Muhurtha or election of time. It is also an integral part of Vedhic culture. Naturally, Vedhic culture and Muhurtha are closely interlinked. Entire Hindu culture, customs, festivals and ceremonies are based on Nakshathra. We are going to learn this connection in the book. This will help us to understand our festivals better and take maximum benefit from them.

I also feel Vedhic astrology was first applied in mundane affairs and the relation of Mundane affairs with Nakshathra is intact in classical texts like Bruhath Savhitha.

Another key area where Nakshathra play an important role is matchmaking. Nakshathra based matchmaking is effective if we understand its application appropriately.

The key to understanding a link between Vedha and Nakshathra is to learn about deities and Vedhic stories about deities. Nakshathra deities also play a major role in remedial measures. The Vedha has a specific language and unless we understand it, we won’t interpret Vedha well. I have made a humble attempt to interpret Vedhic stories about deities and connect the deities with Nakshathra. Many times, Vedha are called prayers and the stories are called mythology. Additionally, Indian festivals are considered as stu3pid because people don’t know the purpose behind them.

The whole purpose of this book is to explain scientific aspects of Vedha, communicate the logic behind Vedhic deities and elaborate symbolism of stories around Vedhic deities. Additionally, if we apply this knowledge in our lives then we may live a prosperous and joyful life. This book is successful if I could add slightest joy and prosperity in every reader’s life. Another success of this book is if you start respecting Vedhic culture and begin to follow it in parts or in full.

My attempt while authoring this book was to eliminate repetition from existing books but I have added relevant information to make it complete.

I am confident that this book will add many things to the treasure of your knowledge and make your life prosperous and joyful.

Who Shall Read this Book

3. Seven principles of joyful living

––––––––

We all go to astrologers with an intent that he shall solve our problems. When we visit an astrologer, he tells us that the cause of your problems is Saturn or Rahu. Then we feel that Rahu is creating so much of a problem. The next step is what can we do about Rahu. Some astrologers suggest a remedy and we follow it. Everything that we do is fair. We shall also learn some basic principles of nature that will simplify our life. This way we may also be able to take extreme advantage of Vedhic astrology to make sustainable and quick progress. I want to explain to you the 7 important principles of life and that shall help you to use astrology very positively. Let’s look at these principles now and feel them further.

Principle 1

The universe is designed to support upliftment.

This universe is changing every moment, and everybody is working to adapt to the change. Every change that we make within ourselves to cope up with a new challenge adds a new capability within us. Every new capability makes us better to deal with a new challenge. This is a typical process of upliftment. This process is continuously going on in the universe which makes it a place that supports upliftment.

Let’s now understand what upliftment is. Upliftment is a process in which a life learns to solve more challenging puzzles than its ability. We shall understand that every life when born has certain abilities and certain limitations. During the span of life, it attempts to cope up with limitations. During this process, a living being increases its abilities. This process of adding abilities can be called upliftment.

Let me give you an example of mangroves. Mangrove trees is a shrub that grows in coastal saline water. It seems these shrubs were evolved 114 million years ago. Because of the limited freshwater availability in salty intertidal soils, mangroves limit the amount of water they lose through their leaves. This ability doesn’t exist in all trees. You may find many more such examples in the animal kingdom as well.

As far as human beings are concerned, our ability to think and raise above the challenges shall be considered as upliftment.

Principle 2

If you don’t encounter puzzles, then you are not being uplifted.

Generally, when we don’t face any challenge, we don’t put many efforts. We tend to relax and enjoy. Sometimes we don’t value what we have and at times we even disrespect others.

Many of us think about why I face so many problems. Every problem that we face is to help us uplift further. There is learning in every problem. As we take appropriate learning we evolve further. The more puzzles we face the more we evolve. Therefore, I encourage you to take up puzzles on your own rather than waiting for them to come to you.

Sometimes people face major losses of either material things or near and dear ones. Losses are the suggestion that nothing is eternal, and the focus shall only be upliftment.

Upliftment shall be our focus because the importance of material things changes based on the context. For example, natural calamities like an earthquake may washout a building and hut at the same time. The owners of a building and a hut may come to a similar level in a split second.

Principle 3

We have only two choices, either to uplift ourselves to solve difficult puzzles or to solve the same puzzle multiple times.

We already know about this principle. To explain this principle, let me give you an analogy of school. If we clear the exam we get into the next class. Those who fail the exam, repeat the same class one more time. Life is very similar to this. If we solve a puzzle, then we get a more challenging puzzle, and this suggests our growth. Those who don’t solve a puzzle are posed with the same or similar puzzle once again. We do have a choice of solving difficult puzzles or same puzzle once again.

Principle 4

Nature presents us with an opportunity or responsibility only when we are ready to take care of it. If we don't fulfil it; then we didn't do our part well.

Nature is always kind to us. It presents us with an opportunity or responsibility that we are capable to handle. Therefore, if we get a challenge or puzzle then it means we can solve it. Please be assured of this and give your 100% to work on the challenge. I can confirm that you will be always successful when you give 100%. Our purpose shall be aligned with nature to be successful but irrespective
