Chapter 1. The Alzheimer’s Treatment
Chapter 1. The Alzheimer's Treatment.
One of the biggest problems associated with Alzheimer's is that it is a chronic neurodegenerative disease. If nothing is done, the disease will slowly evolve, affecting more functions and areas on the brain.
Due to the lack of a cure for this disease, scientists have started working to stop its evolution in order to offer more time
to the patient. It could also offer a better quality of life, if it goes accompanied by a specific neuropsychological rehabilitation for the disease.
The efforts to reduce the advance of the illness have done both from the pharmacology, and on the part of the design of neuropsychological interventions, where it is a question of teaching strategies that compensate the losses provoked by the disease. Mainly, memory strategies that allow to the patient to lead to an independent life, as normal as possible. One of the most important difficulties that exist with neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's, is to have a treatment that offers good results.
The effectiveness of the treatments is very limited before this disease, in spite of the efforts made, and at the expense of a considerable success in this field, in the near future.
Firstly, Alzheimer’s most frequently is detected in an advanced phase. And the pharmacopoeia designed for this purpose is less efficient that would fit if it could be detected in the early stages.
In addition, there are not known factors to help preventing the disease. It’s true that data exists. However, they are not conclusive, due to the exact causes of its occurrence, are still unclear. It is not possible to determine an index that serves to fight against it and therefore, preventing the disease.
Pharmacological treatment is indicated as a companion to the disease, to delay its progress as far as possible.

Although the reasons for the onset of Alzheimer disease are currently unknown, some causes considered as risk factors for dementia, such as cardiovascular disorders, are known.
There are several pathologies that can be included in this category of vascular disorder, Hypertension, hypercholesterolemia (high blood cholesterol) or heart failure, among others. All of them usually require specific medication to facilitate blood flow.
However, the treatment can be complicated when these people, suffering these vascular disorders, endure other pathologies as important as Alzheimer’s.
Although currently there’s no cure for Alzheimer’s, disease, there are several drugs on the market trying to fight back against its advancement. By slowing the progression of this neurodegenerative
