    FOREWORD

When I began to think about writing a story about my cancer experience, I was going to tell my story. I would go back to the beginning and build a picture of my life that would eventually lead you to read of a life changing valley experience. Well, as I continued to ponder and pray about what to write, how to start, and so many other things, the Lord impressed upon me that my story was not to be the subject of this endeavor. It was to be HIS story through me, that HE alone was the One who had something to say to those who have to endure cancer, or any other trial for that matter. What was to be said is that HE IS ABLE to provide whatever one needs during the greatest tests of life. Philippians 4:19 reminds us that And my God will supply ALL your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. (NASB)

As I thought more and more about that, I knew that my life story isn’t any more special than anyone else’s, even if it does include cancer. Cancer is called by many different names for sure, but it’s still cancer! After I was first diagnosed, my daughter asked me one day, Mom, why you of all people? My reply was, why not me? What makes me any different from anyone else who receives that diagnosis, has a prodigal child, loses a job or loved one? Absolutely nothing!

According to Hebrews 9:22, …without the shedding of blood there is no remission. (KJV) The writer of Hebrews was speaking about sin in our lives. When Jesus shed His blood, He re-missioned lives plagued with sin and disobedience. After all the chemotherapy treatments of 2010, today I am still in remission from my leukemia – Praise the Lord! All that chemo changed how my cells grow and divide. They were re-missioned. Their original mission was reestablished. That is what happens to people who will allow God to re-mission their lives through His blood cleansing them. HE IS ABLE to change your direction and put you back on the original mission HE had for you when you were created.

Praise God that one doesn’t always have to go through nausea, vomiting, hair loss and all the other things that go with chemo to get Him to change the mission of one’s life. He has already done all that is necessary. He poured out His life blood on the Cross for us – FOR YOU. The power of His blood is much greater than the power of man’s blood given by transfusion when ones blood levels are low because of cancer. He NEVER gets low on His power! HE IS ABLE to do all things.

My hope is that those who peruse the pages of this offering will see that it was my faith in ONE who IS ABLE to do all things that sustained me during my illness. Cancer can either take you to a wilderness or to a wonderland. The ‘wonder’ of God’s grace and faithfulness was my choice – my need. HE IS ABLE to sustain you also, no matter what your battle is be it cancer or something else. We all must remember that NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR GOD!

    LIFE IS IN THE BLOOD

"For as for the life of all flesh, its blood

    is identified with its life…"

    Leviticus 17:14 (NASB)

When one is diagnosed with a blood cancer, one certainly thinks about the fact that it is one’s blood that is at the center of how one lives. Blood is what transports oxygen to the brain, heart and, ultimately, to the entire body. With blood cancer, blood cells are not growing or dividing as they should. As such, the blood is unable to carry out its intended life-giving functions.

If someone is involved in a tragic accident and is bleeding profusely, the blood is not transporting oxygen to blood cells to keep the cells alive. When the cells begin to die, the person begins to die. If the bleeding is not stopped quickly, death is eminent. In blood cancer, the bleeding is the immature blasts that are in the blood that affect the bloods ability to carry out cell division and promote growth in order to complete their divine mission to provide life. If the blasts aren’t treated aggressively cancer cells will grow, the certainty of death is there also.

Every day we take for granted just how important our blood is to our life. We
