Descripción

Israel of old and modern day Christians parallel each other in their spiritual journey.
This is what is said of Israel:
Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; And did all eat the same spiritual meat; And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. Now, these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, the people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play; neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand; neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents. Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer. Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he falls.
I Cor. 10:1-12

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

As with any publication, no writer works in a vacuum. There are always scores of persons to thank for the success of a book. Therefore, I would like to acknowledge the following persons especially for their contribution to this publication.

First, I would like to thank the Lord Jesus Christ for putting this project on my heart. My lack of understanding for many years led me to search the Scriptures more diligently that I might be able to share with others an educated message about this most important subject.

Next, I’d like to thank Pearlene Herrin and the Ambassadors for Christ Ministry for allowing me to present this series of teachings during our visitations to the Jackie Brannon Minimum Security Prison in McAlester, OK.

Following, I’m grateful for the interested inmates at Jackie Brannon, who so faithfully came each month and kept me encouraged and on my toes. Their desire to receive a hard copy of the many messages I taught urged me on to complete this manual.

And lastly, I would like to acknowledge and doubly thank my wonderful husband, John H. Harrison, who so lovingly supported me during this Herculean task, and never complained about the long hours I spent away from him or my many weary days.

Needless to say, I’m eternally grateful to my numerous prayer partners who kept me lifted up before the throne of grace. There are too many of them to name. Thank each of you immensely.

IN THE BEGINNING…

PREFACE

Israel of old and modern day Christians parallel each other in their spiritual journey. This is what is said of Israel:

Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; And did all eat the same spiritual meat; And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

I Cor. 10:1-12

We are doing some of the same things they did: some good and some bad. God loves us both and desired to deliver his people of the O.T. from Egypt to Canaan (their promise land) and us from earth to heaven (our promise land)

OUT OF LOVE, God desired to move in (as in pack your bags and move your residence) and live among his people in a tangible way. He wanted to be close to them. In Exodus 25:8 He tells Moses to build him a house/sanctuary. It was to be the hub of life, for the people throughout their time in the wilderness. Also, Moses was instructed to place it in the center of the community of tents. Additionally, it was to be built according to a specific blueprint laid out by God himself. The people were to supply the materials, but the only acceptable items were those given willingly, (which represented the giving of our hearts). This is the only service acceptable to God—willing service.

God was excited about moving in with his people; so he told Moses to plan a special celebration to commemorate the event. God chose special people to care for his house (the tribe of Levi) and yet others to interpret to the people his special love for them (the Levite priests). God thought of everything. It was very important to Him that his people understood His love (as demonstrated by the coming of
