About this ebook

Happily Ever After?

Catrina Macintyre thought she’d gotten her great ending--the one she'd always read about in books. After the life she had already survived, isn’t that what she deserved? However, tragedy strikes her in a way she never thought possible, affecting her relationship with Killian and the pack.

Can Killian help her heal, or will she once again be lost in the grief of her loss?

Lost in Grief is a short story set in the period after Found in Hope (#2) and before Claimed by Magic (#3). It is recommended that you have read both Lost in Vengeance and Found in Hope to understand the full context of the story and avoid spoilers.

Author

H.R. Savage

Author H.R. Savage (Heather) started reading romance at an age that made her father cringe as she tried to hide the cover behind her hands. She technically finished writing her first book in Junior High, where it mysteriously disappeared in a reformatting incident. Due to the encouragement of her English teachers at her small town school in La Verne, California, she never lost her love for the art. Now a woman who swears by the power of coffee, Chinese food, and wine (not necessarily in that order), she decided it was time to create stories from the characters in her head. When Heather isn’t writing, outlining, or pinning pictures of hot ‘character inspirations’ on PinterestTM, she is spending time with her three beautiful children, handsome husband, and dramatically energetic Australian shepherd at their home in San Bernardino, CA.

    CHAPTER ONE

How could a day so full of happiness and life leave her feeling so destroyed? The whole pack surrounded a smiling Skylar with joy glowing all over their faces. They hugged, laughed, joked with each other—meanwhile it took everything for Cat to hold a steady smile. Her lips burned with the strain and she crossed her arms over her stomach.

Skylar was pregnant. That word alone made Cat want to cringe away; to hide from the cheerfulness in a dark corner. Even at that moment, Jamie held his hand over Skylar’s stomach like there was a prized possession. A treasure. Cat sucked in an icy breath that burned her nostrils. She knew that the heartbeat within Skylar’s womb was a treasure. A fragile one.

Cat was still recuperating from when Jessica told her a few weeks ago that she was pregnant as well. Was there something in the water? Were the women in this pack trying to rub Cat’s loss in her face? She knew they weren’t. The realistic part of her brain said that there was no vindictive reasoning to them creating life. But her heart ached at the fact that her own body had betrayed her.

    Are you okay, Little Wolf?
