About this ebook

Within MUSINGS AND AMUSINGS author W.E. Brower Jr. weaves worlds where the lines of reality and insanity blur in the middle. A doctor new to his residency at a psychiatric clinic has his judgment clouded by his first client whose delusions of grandeur echo with elements of reality in “Mental Vacation.” Meanwhile a lab tech demonstrates how many ethics violations she’s willing to break in order to achieve her end goals in “Lab Animals.” A recluse living in the mountains is forced to face their fears when an unscheduled delivery arrives in “The Package.” A single father wakes up to discover his life is a music video with strange lyrics on a “Lazy Day.” The true definition of friendship is demonstrated in the reflective essay that chronicles “An Event of Titanic Proportion.”

This book could not have been written without the support of my wife Cynthia Levers-Brower, who has grown accustomed to having dinner at 4am because of my binge writing over 24 years.

I’ve come to the conclusion that residency here is modern slang for indentured servitude as I nod at smiling patients feigning the thrill of seeing one another. I turned the corner towards the backroom where even now the sounds of Dvorak blared over the silly song on Sesame Street which was on in the
