Parisian guide puts 'the second sex' in first place

Heidi Evans founded a female-focused tour called Women of Paris to correct the imbalance in the traditional tour of the City of Lights, which over-emphasizes the 'greatness' of the men who founded this city and underplays women's roles. Here she is outside a women's publishing house founded in the 1970s.

From Charlemagne to Charles de Gaulle, the formidable men whose minds and military exploits have shaped La France are well chronicled and commemorated.

But a question kept troubling Heidi Evans, a young Brit who moved to Paris in 2014 to be a tour guide, as she herded tourists from the Pantheon to the banks of the Seine: “What about the women?”
