About this ebook

Excerpt:
"So sweet." Kirkland nipped at her plump lower lip, letting his tongue follow the gentle bites, soothing the sting. The feel of her slender fingers gripping the back and side of he shirt had him wondering what it would feel like to have her nails against his flesh. The soft pleading moans she made was like dangling steak before a lion, he wanted more. Kirkland's hand began tracing the curves of her rounded hips, over the indentation of her waist and up to the side-swell of her tempting breasts. His thumb grazed her pebbled nipple through the soft sundress she wore.

Lena arched into his touch wanting craving the contact. It felt like this man, with his handsome looks and confidence, with his brilliant mind that could see art where others simply saw wood or stone, was pulling something out of her she'd never knew or felt before. Almost like he was molding her into a knew woman. Her hands slid up over his solid muscular chest and her arms circled his neck as she gave herself over to the heat of his kiss. The soft moan that floated from her lips blended with Kirkland's primal growl; he was devouring her and Lena was more that willing to be consumed.

It took all the years of discipline he'd acquired to refrain from saying the one word that came to mind as he held her close....“mine”.......she was made for him and every part of him knew it. Her taste was divine and addictive to him, all he could think of while his tongue swirled and swiped with hers was having more of her. It was that thought that forced him to engage the reins of self-control. Allena wasn't ready for what it would mean to be with him, how it would change them both. Taking a moment more, to savor the feel of her full plush lips against his, Kirkland kissed her like a thirsty man drinking water before it was taken away.

“Um....” Lena felt like she was burning and Kirk was the flame she didn't want to put out. He tasted like warm brandy smooth and dangerous if one wasn't careful. Lena's hand followed the hard muscles straining beneath his tidy apparel. Suddenly his lips left hers, when she leaned forward to continue she felt his hands on her shoulders holding her back. Her eyes fluttered open and she stared at him with looking for a reason.
“Why....why did you stop?” Lena couldn't help that she was silently searching her mind to see if she'd done anything wrong.
Kirk exhaled as he took on step back from the woman who was a temptation to him. “If we don't stop now, I won't be able to and you are not ready for that side of me Allena.”

Later that night.......

“Are you.....you're a Vampire?”

“No, no I'm not. Although your human fairy-tales are based around the idea of my people at their most primal, with plenty of added embellishments of course.” Kirkland answer honestly.

“What...what are you?” Lena asked with a little more calm. “How is it that I can hear you” as she toss the question at him, she pointed to her head “in my mind?”

Truth was the only option for mates and Kirkland was bond by that fact. “I am an immortal of the Time-Walker clan, an ancient race of people. We are travelers of earth and time, stronger and faster than the average human, there is very little that can stop us. Time is our gift, but we are also tempered by time.”

"What does that even mean that you're tempered by time.?"

“What I am is something difficult to explain. Who I am, is the same man you've come to know........and who I am to you, is irreversible. I am your MATE.”

    Introduction:

Kirkland B. Vetnovich: Kirk to family & friends

Kirkland Vetnovich  is of  an ancient race of humans, that have walked the earth since the beginning of life. Born as common men, but never to die as a common man. His Kind has roamed this land and its waters, long before the land became a country and was given a name. The natives knew them as the unchanged ones, immortals.  They are called Time-Walkers. They have witnessed the world change, grow and in many ways stay the same. They have had many names and their hands have learned many professions, from tilling soil to mining gold. Centuries of wealth lay at their fingertips; speed, physical strength and power is woven into their DNA, as a birthright unmatched. Yet there remains one thing that can be a threat to begins as powerful as this...'The Calling'.  At two hundred and eighty-five years old, the second oldest of four brothers and one sister, Kirkland Vetnovich was at that place in his life..

Immense power, his wealth uncountable and his knowledge of life could fill libraries the world over.  His early centuries were spent in dedication to his work, more than partying, living in leisure or dating; women came and went as sexual partners that were beautiful, but nonetheless temporary. Kirk's passion was centered and focused on mastering the craft that he loved and he surpassed his goal. Before there was automated robotic machinery, he was designing great structures, carving wood, manually fabricating metals and building ships and boats for Kings, Queens and the wealthy men of the world. However, all that he has gained now hangs in uncertainty.

Kirkland finds himself in a dangerous phase known as  'The Calling'; a slow stripping away of all compassion, of empathy....of his humanity. The irony of a Time-Walker's nature is: without the element of humanity they lose immortality. Each day the mark of 'The Calling', taunts him, like a timed bomb without a clock. His wealth can't fix this, his intellect can't reverse or outmaneuver this safeguard that is woven into time itself, specifically for his kind. There is only one thing that can save him.....Will he find it in time?

Although Time-Walkers masters of time.....time alone can become their greatest enemy, just surely as it has been their friend. Kirkland must find his other half, the one to balance the weight of power and darkness....he must fine his true light.....his mate.

    What You Need

    A Paranormal IR-Romance

Kirkland Vetnovich and Allena Spezric thrived in the world of Art & Design Their passion for creativity and their crafts were almost consuming force in their lives, but time and nature has a way of changing one's focus with or without permission.

    Chapter 1

Most people who observed Lena Spezric in day-to-day life would say that she had everything going for her. At the age of 28, she had a great career, working for one of Miami's most prestigious Media Relations & Event Planning firms, BVA Creations. Lena had earned the respect of more than few high powered clients and was considered a rising star in Visual Fabrication and Design. She drove a nice car, nothing to fancy and recently purchased her first home; the puzzle pieces of life were falling in to perfect place for her.  Just as she had planned out. Yet, with all that she had accomplished and all that she had gained, sometimes there was a very present feeling of hollowness.

Lena was shocked at the massive bundle of mail now protruding from her mailbox, there had to be like two weeks worth. Maybe her mother was right in saying that she was missing the little things that mattered by being so focused on planning for big things.  She'd organized conventions and red-carpet ceremonies for some of Miami's wealthiest residents and visitors; heck, she had planned out her whole career and was winning at it.  Yet, when it came to her personal life organized was now where in sight. She missed several scheduled family dinners, rarely went out and even on her days off she was focused on work.....on the next big project for.....someone else. Her family was very patient, but the truth is Lena's personal life basically didn't exist.

The time on the small digital clock with large red numbers read, 6:38pm as she walked into her quiet home, closing and locking the front door before tossing her keys on the table near the door.

Thank goodness I made it home safely, She gave God thanks for his mercy and protection Lord knows that driving these streets requires prayer.

Kicking off her black Le-Ora pumps as she moved towards the living-room; dropping her bag and portfolio case into the single seat sofa, Lena fell onto the long, cool sea-foam flora couch with a heavy sigh. The mail that she had collected from the mailbox moments before was still clutched between her arm and her body.

I just need two minutes to close my eyes, She whispered aloud to herself then I can drag myself upstairs and change before I eat. The weight of a hard week's work was too heavy and sleep pulled her into its dark soothing space.

Squinting through half raised eyelids, Lena was a bit disoriented and it took a few seconds as she shook herself awake. Looking around she realized that she had fallen asleep on the couch downstairs. I must have been more tired than I realized. Rolling slightly she checked the clock and it read 4:15am. It was Saturday morning, she had been so tired that she slept the remainder of Friday evening away. Swinging her legs from the couch, her feet encountered what felt like scattered papers; then she recalled the bundle of mail she was planning to go through before sleep came. Without turning on a light she reached down, letting her hands sweep over the area rug that covered the ground, Lena scrapped together what mail she could feel and placed them onto the center table.

Standing and sidestepping the pointed edges of the heavy wooden table, she made her way upstairs, thinking only of taking a quick shower and then jumping into her comfy bed.

With a yawn, she stretched her arms over her head, and made a mental note If I live to see the rise of the sun I will sit and weed through that giant pile of mail sometime tomorrow.

The warm water felt heavenly cascading of her skin as she stood behind the glass door of her shower scrubbing the residue of yesterday from her body. There is nothing better than feeling clean Lena thought, it always made her feel brand new. Feeling refreshed and relaxed she stepped out onto the soft fluffy shower-rug, grabbed her pre-selected sleepwear from the hanging rod and got dressed.

Whispering to herself as she moved across the room, Even if I'm only going to get a few more hour's of sleep, I'll take it. Falling into her raised king-sized bed she pulled the duvet up to her chin and gave herself over to sleep once more.

When next she opened her eyes, unfiltered sunlight shined bright through the window illuminating her bedroom. Umm. This was one of those wakings where the covers hugged the body just right, muscles were just the right level of relaxed and time felt like it was willing to wait on you. Lena took her time getting up, swinging her legs over the edge of her bed she sat allowing her mind to be clear as she admired the beauty of the morning.

It was 10:00AM before she really began moving around, a nice starter shower and then down to the kitchen to make a hot cup of tea and some spiced creamed-oats for breakfast.

Today is going to be my day to do absolutely nothing. I'm going to relax and start that book I bought three months ago.

By the time 1:45pm came around Lena had fallen into her same old habit; she was standing in her small home office with mock-up boards laid out, color swatches and pinned tiny notes as she brainstormed ideas for her next work project.

Great I did it again, Lena spoke to herself out loud "mom and Shelly have probably texted me ten times already.

Reaching for her office phone, she dialed her mother's number first, listening patiently as it rang and rang four more times before her mother's warm voice poured through the receiver.

Hi Mom! Lena's greeting was upbeat as it always was when she spoke to her mother. They've always had a great and open relationship, even when she lost track of time and missed family events, her mother rarely ever complained.

How's your day going sweetheart? Melisa Spezric asked.

I'm fine mom and everything is going great. How about you and Dad, how are you guys doing?

Oh, I'm doing well baby, and your daddy is being his old self, with his sports on almost every TV in the house. Melissa sucked her teeth in routine annoyance It's as if that man can't miss one minute of the game.

Lena laughed at her mother predictable complaint, her father's love of sports was a long running playful annoyance between her parents. But you love him all the same mom.

Always have and always will her mother declared with pride. I tried to text you earlier but I figured that you might have gotten caught up with one of your projects for work.

Guilt hovered Sorry mama, I kind of lost track of time.

Her family owned one of Miami's most popular bakeries (Sweet Mel's), they were one of the few successful black owned franchises in South Florida. Lena and her mother spoke about the ups and downs of their week, and how glad they both were for the weekend was finally here. Listening to her mom talk about how bills just kept rolling in, reminded Lena to go through the neglected stack of mail that she'd brought in yesterday evening. Before the call ended Melisa firmly reminded Lena to call her sister.  And she did.

Lena spent an hour on the phone with her twin sister, Shellena; everyone called her 'Shell or Shelly'. They had a great relationship, but Shelly wasn't as easy going as their mother, she didn't speak in 'round-about terms or give her words soft landings. Her twin was kind but direct.

I understand that you have to work Lena, but you've got to make more time for family, more time for yourself sis.

I do make time for family, Shell. Lena could hear her sister pulling air through her teeth. Hey, don't go sucking your teeth at me.....I do make time for you guys.

And what about time for you?  When was the last time that your work didn't go home with you Lena? When was the last time that you went out with friends....or on a date? Shelly waited, knowing that her sister wouldn't be able to answer or deny her point. Exactly.....!

"Ok, you got me there. But, is it so wrong that I love what I do? That I'm driven to be the
