Introduction
Thank you for downloading, Running For Beginners: 23 Outstanding Lessons on How to Start Running and Reduce Your Weight
. This beginner’s guide is the first step to enable you to engage in the most remarkable, the most challenging and the most rewarding athletic pursuit anyone can do. I mean that literally. Anyone can run. With the right preparation and training you can achieve your goal of running as a hobby, as a passion or as a way of losing and controlling weight.
Running is more than just exercise. It has been for many years part of a fitness lifestyle that many want to be a part of, but few actually join. You’ve seen the names posted on the community center bulletin boards for the Turkey Trots or the Memorial Day 5K. And no doubt you have friends with the stickers on the rear windows of their cars to trumpet that they had run 26.2 or 13.1 miles. Being there is one of the symbols of an elite community. Only runners could join.
But like I said, anyone can run. In my time, I have helped so many people discover the joy of running and from that I have learned many important lessons. The most important I am going to share with you in this book. And with this book alone, you should discover within yourself the love of running that will drive you. The initial steps of training seem somewhat misplaced. Of course, there is the emphasis on hitting the road. But more important at the beginning is the devotion an aspiring runner must place on mentally preparing for the road.
But it goes beyond just getting out there. Runners also need understand what to eat. Running is an exercise that demands energy so a particular diet is important. Keep in mind, you do not have to be perfect with what you eat. No one ever is. You just have to make an effort to give your body what it wants so your body will give you what you want.
Once you take those first few steps, you will enter a new world. Don’t get fooled by the cool gear and gadgets. I’ll teach you to find the equipment and attire that works for runners. I will also make sure you have the knowledge and insight you need to both treat minor aches, pains and injuries, but more importantly to prevent injury from occurring. Most people who run have gone through phases where they were suffering. Blisters; swollen, achy joints; shin
