About this ebook
“How is she?” Akemi said to Will in a whisper, with a light laugh apologizing for her inadvertent intrusion on his privacy. She’d met his girlfriend Josephine, whose photo appeared on the phone along with her message. The device lay flat on the table between them; Will slid his hand over the display in a mock display of umbrage and gave a muttered, laughing response. He looked both delighted and discomfited by any attention from Akemi away from his brother. Short chapters. New episode added almost daily.

Akemi looked at him directly, then glanced for an instant down the front of her pajama top. It was closed to the uppermost button but one. If she’d opened a few more, the freer fit might have emphasized her bust less, Mitchell noted with some surprise at the realization.
A bad joke, given Akemi’s experience. Mitchell’s brother often got tongue-tied around her, well-meaning said exactly the wrong thing. A phone she could depend on was a must in case of emergency, he’d meant, of course.
