About this ebook

This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of Purpose, Pursuit and Motivation are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore six topics, from different verses in the book of Joshua. They are: Sword drawn; Counsel from the Lord; Between servanthood and sonship; The protocol; The promise; Portions.
Excerpts:
Sword drawn
“Light is a weapon to fight darkness. The sword of the word of God is a sword of light, sword of truth, because what the devil has are lies, darkness. Jesus called him the father of lies whose very nature is lies (John 8:44). The battle with fight is with truth (Psalm 45:1-6), through which we get the people to submit to Christ as they are saved.”
Counsel from the Lord
“Everything that God made, to serve their full potential, must function according to his determined purpose in the mind of God for there to be fulfilment (Revelation 4:11).  Anything that hinders full-blossoming should be removed from the way. That is why Jesus came, to restore us to our full purpose in God by the Holy Spirit, the breath of God, coming into us, which is the Spirit of counsel (Isaiah 11:1-2), which we will do well to yield to at all times, for our path to be marked with success.”
Between servanthood and sonship
“However, in the divine calculation, everything will be rewarded. There is the judgement seat of Christ where we will receive reward for whatever we have done in the flesh (2Corinthians 5:10). So service do not go to waste. The bible say that God is not unrighteous to forget our labour of love since we have ministered to and have continued to minister to the saints (Hebrews 6:10).”
The protocol
“Whatever influence you submit to can affect those around you. We have opportunity to affect others in time and eternity as we stand with God. Jesus sent you out to be his witness for that same purpose. His single stance with God, in agreeing to bear the sin of the word, made impact for both the past, present and the future. The bible says that he will see the travail of his soul and will rejoice. That is the protocol, who you are will affect others, so be the best you can be, and make the bests choice you can make.”
The promise
“The word of God helps us to maintain our balance in a changing world, when we set our eyes on it. The bible says that the book of the law shall not depart from our mouth but we should meditate on it day and night, and the result in unquestionable success and effectiveness. That was God’s word to Joshua as he was about to embark on a new season in his life (Joshua 1:8).”
Portions
“God said his portion will be made smaller, he will no longer lead the children of Israel over the Jordan. But since he had been anointed for it, he needed to transfer the anointing for that to Joshua, to take over some of the role he was given (Deuteronomy 34:9). Similarly when Elijah was going to prematurely go off the scene, God asked him to anoint Elijah prophet in his stead to take over his role, his portion, in Israel (1Kings 19:15-16).”
