About this ebook

Is there a threat to Europe from its Muslim populations?
Mass immigration has been a fact of life for a large part of post-WWII Europe. It was never an easy path. There had always been some levels of complications with immigrants. As Europe’s population of peoples from around the globe grew, particularly from the Muslim world, so did various tribulations. For decades, significant part of those problems had simply been swept under the rug. But, this dubious methodology has reached an unacceptable level and even a new one added. As of this writing, the end of 2015 and the start of 2016, the troubles of mass immigration has reached a never before seen level of relevance as now. Europe is at a crossroads in which internal and external affairs should be encouraging it to ask; is it all worth it? A growing number of Europeans seem to think not. However, their governments and mainstream media don’t share their people’s views, and some established most of far-left leaning political parties and leftist media moguls don’t even acknowledge the question; is there a threat to Europe from its Muslim populations?

A sad yet real description of the current situation in what was once a great Europe. Even though the article was written to depict the 2015 situation, the truth is that it has gotten worse since then. The multicultural idea will never be feasable in Europe, and we need to take drastic measures to ensure other cultures integrate when coming to Europe, not the other way around.

However, their governments and mainstream media don’t share their people’s views, and some of the mostly far-left leaning political parties and leftist media moguls don’t even acknowledge the question; is there a threat to Europe from its Muslim populations?

1 Brief History of Islam in Europe

Islam had played a role in Europe from an early time-period. In the year 711, Moslems first set foot in Europe with the Umayyad conquest of Hispania, or what is modern-day Spain and Portugal. A little over twenty years later, they had advanced further north, well into the Frankish Empire. Finally, in 732, they were soundly defeated by the Franks at the Battle of Tours, which is part of France today. Over the centuries, the Moslems were steadily driven southward. In 1492, the year Christopher Columbus re-discovered America, the Emirate of Granada, the last Moorish stronghold, surrendered to King Ferdinand V and Queen Isabella. The Muslim population was continuously expelled from Spain until 1614, when the last left the country.

At about the same time Hispania was conquered by Muslim armies, Islam entered and got a more permanent foothold on the other end of the continent, in the east, in what is now a part of Russia. Starting in the 14 century, the Balkans also saw a Muslim invasion, this time through the Ottoman Empire, which also got a more permanent grip on the continent. To this day there are remnants of the Ottoman Empire remaining in this part of Europe. Especially the Balkan countries of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Albania and the Kosovo have significant Muslim populations, the latter two having a large majority.

2 European Muslims Today

The number of Muslims in Europe stayed relatively stable after the ouster of the Ottomans until the mid-twentieth century. But in the twentieth century, during the post-WWII period, it was Western and Northern Europe in particular, which saw explosive Muslim growth, going from nearly zero to what it is now. It’s also in this part of Europe where the growth rate of Muslims is still greatest. It was Great Britain and France who started their policies of multiculturalism, by allowing peoples from their colonies to immigrate.

Today, Muslim populations in Europe are chiefly centered in larger cities, more specifically, in certain city districts. Many of those cities have significant numbers of Muslims.

During the latter part of this century, other European nations saw significant increase of Muslim immigration as well.
