About this ebook

Oh the holidays.

Parties, dinners, drinks, and chocolates for breakfast. Stuffing, stuffing, stuffed. Somehow we manage to justify eating almost anything during the time between Thanksgiving and the new year, promising ourselves that we will "start over" in January. Problem is, your body doens't work like that...and it doesn't like that either. This way of being with food is entirely unnatural and actually creates disharmony in your body.

In "Comfort Food and Joy", Jenny provides five clear and actionable tips that will help you stay happy, healthy, and hot as you navigate the challenges - and the joys - of the holidays.

With her signature wit and down-to-earth writing style, "Comfort Food and Joy" will help you make this holiday balanced and enjoyable, with no stress around food...and no weight gain that you need to lose come January.

Check out Jenny's website for her free video training series, The Diet Monster 101, and get started today on your path to peace and hotness.

    Introduction:

The inspiration for this e-book came from the source of much of my inspiration: my yoga students. In the ten years I’ve been a yoga teacher, I’ve always been interested in the aspects of my student’s lives outside of the yoga room; do they have healthy relationships, and how do they support their overall wellness? How does their job serve them as an evolving person, and does it fulfill them? How do they sleep? What are their thoughts like, and how does their thinking affect their feelings of wellbeing and happiness? And one of the biggest ones: how do they eat?

I’ve had the opportunity to have many discussions about life with hundreds of students. As a keen observer of human behavior, I unconsciously started making my own generalizations. When I became aware of this tendency, I realized that I had formed some theories.

While I try my best to stay away from black and white thinking of any kind, it seemed as though some observations could be made. And if I can be so sweeping as to respectfully categorize the people with whom I speak, for these purposes, I would say that they fit into one of two groups:

    1)  The Consistents

    2)  The Fluctuators

I hesitate as I’m writing this, because I know very well that we all can fit into both categories at different times in our lives. My aim is not to generalize or offend, and much less to attempt to fit the vast eclectics of my beloved students into columns formed by my own view of the world. So please hear me when I say that I make these distinctions with utmost love and respect.

Over the years, I’ve watched many students I would consider Consistents work through their practice and slowly improve, with a seemingly stable frame of mind, enjoying small victories and moderate progressions that eventually cumulate in the results they were after when they first began. Their bodies and moods remain basically the same, indicative of consistency with food, thought, and exercise. While they of course have ups and downs, the ups don’t seem to go too far up, and the downs don’t seem to drop very far below a balance line.

On the flip-side, I’ve watched many fluctuate dramatically in their weight, their energy levels, and very clearly in the way
