    Starting Your Own Business

    Blending With The Sky

    ––––––––

If you have an entrepreneurial spirit and a strong desire to work for yourself, you can benefit from starting your own business. If you have such a desire, you certainly are not alone. According to the 2010 Small Business Administration (SBA) statistics, there were almost 28 million small businesses in the United States, 52% of them being home-based businesses. It is also interesting to note that a small business is designed as an independent operation that has fewer than 500 employees. Of course, most small businesses have far fewer employees than 500 or perhaps no outside employees at all.

There is no doubt that you have already spent a considerable amount of time thinking about business and what it is going to mean for yourself and your family. Although estimates vary, depending upon who is giving them, it is thought that as many as eight out of every 10 small businesses fail within the first two years of operation. If you take the time to follow the guidelines that are outlined in this book, it is much more likely that you will land in the 20% of small business owners who continue to enjoy their business for the long-term. It is also important to recognize that, once you are able to get past the first few years, the possibility of maintaining your business for the long-term increases substantially.

Finally, it is important to consider the way that technology is going to affect your business. In today's society, it is difficult to find any businesses that do not use technology in some way or another. This is especially true with the advent of the Internet and the fact that much of your new business
