About this ebook

Read, think, Enjoy! Here are ideas from the viewpoint of a writer in his eighties that can keep the minds of all readers whirling in an attempt to endorse or contest them.. It is expected that some of the comments will arouse debate and be some part in Making America Great Again. There are also words of ;love and guidance from grandparents. Comments of guidance on diverse subjects such as: Making friends; dating, and having a successful marriage, For new car drivers and how to get somewhere before anyone else, safely; On love: from parental to sexual and love shown to toddlers with band-aids; On games; the importance of enjoying the relationships as vs winning. How to make America Great Again and how to resolve the growing inequality in income. Why we all live and questions regarding religion and politics which are intended to provoke brain-storming and controversy. Integrity and honor; Living wages and a sufficiency economy; as well as how to implement a robotic displacement of all jobs in repetitious labor. Why capitalism, with regulation, is the best system for production of goods. There is even a word on protecting children from all nocturnal monsters, even lions and bears.

Henry Arthur

I have been a grease monkey and gas pumper in old time gas station; powder monkey: mine worker delivering dynamite to other miners; peach picker; radio location finding specialist in Air Force; radio tech for private industrial research; bookkeeper; CPA and Attorney. In real life I saw many interesting and some terrible things. This real life experience was enhanced by the "virtual reality" experiences gained with my imagination and novels. I have always loved novels, starting with comic books in the orphanage, lots of sci-fi in teens; plus Steinbeck, Twain, Dickens, Niven, Pohl, Faulkner, Dahl and a myriad of others. All of this experience was called upon and led me into writing this novel, which I hope is only the first. Reader comments, pro and con will help. Pro comments will help motivate me to continue while negative comments can show me where I can improve, also adding to my motivation.Total silence may turn off whatever creative juices this old body has so please comment.

    About the Author

Dear hearts, beloved grandchildren, we think of you often with love and enjoy hugging. playing and talking with you. Your skills are amazing to us and we are proud that you work a lot to learn all that you can. You are always full of questions. Sometimes, and in time, you won't be able to reach us to ask us how we feel or think about things. After you learn to read, this little booklet may have our answers to some of your questions. We hope that you will be able to use it almost as though we were right with you. You and anyone who wants to know what we thought of something, can read down the table of contents, near the start of the book, To find what we thought on something, press the control button and, at the same time, click your mouse on that item. The click of your mouse should get you to the words we would tell you about that subject.

    Words on the Breeze

A soft breeze rustles the leaves of a grove of trees.

The fluttering leaves make a sound like a voice murmuring just to you.

    It could be bringing you words from your grandparents;

Maybe words like we have gathered together below just for you.

We know that as you grow, you may sometimes wonder:

What would my grandparents tell me

About life or a problem that has puzzled you.

We sat, and thought, and sat and thought,

And came up with thoughts that may help or which might not,

(Just like when you could come to us easily and get a hug and a word)

We knew that, in time, we would be separated from you by time,

And so, we , hopefully in time, put our thoughts down below

On things we thought you might want to know

Here are things we would tell you if you asked

About the things listed or maybe just a word instead of a hug.

Think of each word as a hug and kiss from us

    We love and loved you.

    Animate and Inanimate Matter

I am sure that you have noticed that some of the things around us move without us or the wind or ocean, moving them. Some things even grow. Some obvious examples are dogs, cats, birds, fish, lions, pandas; all things which many call animals. Not so obvious are some things which do not move towards us or away from us, such as trees, flowers, grass, strawberries and other living things which are not animals but are called plants.

Animals and plants are all special things as they have life. Life is still the unsolved puzzle for humanity. Rocks and dirt and pebbles and water and clouds do not have life. Nor do volcanoes or wind. The planet Earth, and, I think, all planets in the universe contain matter which is not alive, inanimate. Our planet may be the only place which, still in 2015, is known to have animated matter. (When you grow up, maybe humans will find other planets with animated matter, maybe even some at least as intelligent as humans.)

Most plants live just by consuming inanimate matter, minerals found in the dirt and stones, and water. All animate matter must consume, that means eat, matter that is animated, alive, or that was recently alive. Some people try to eat only plants. Humans have always eaten plants and the meat of fish or animals. In all the time humans have been on this planet, which is the only one on which we know humans live, most have eaten both plants and meat from animals or fish.

Other organisms have to find food where they live. Big fish eat smaller fish swimming nearby. Big cats and bears search for deer and other animals which are not as strong as they are and kill and eat them. Some gorillas and some monkeys, plus wild pigs, will find fruit that has fallen from trees or may even find a plant root, a small animal, or insects that they can eat.

Long ago some people figured out how to put seeds in the ground to grow fruits and vegetables and grains so they could have these near them. They also learned to pen cattle and pigs and to feed these animals from the things they had planted to grow, like corn. So humans no longer have to search for roots and fruit or for goats, cows and pigs for food. Instead they just go into their fields or the pens they have made. They did this so that they would not go without food.

People also pitied the poor cattle and learned how to reduce the pain the animals suffered when they were prepared to be used for food. There is nothing to be ashamed of when you eat in the same way that all animated things must. Maybe humans will eventually learn how to make truly nutritious food from chemicals, even print out delicious meals on 3-D printers!

Matter which is not animate, water, rocks and stuff like that can hurt animated matter.....like when you bumped your head on a table,
