HOW TO STAIN CONCRETE
Whether you are a professional concrete artist, or just looking to do a little DIY in your own home. I’m sure you’ll find something beneficial inside this book. Especially if you are new to the beauty and flexibility that a concrete floor offers, you will be amazed!
So should you stain your concrete floor? Here are some comparisons on the pros and cons of concrete stain.
How to Stain Concrete
– the internet lies!
I noticed that when I started looking into staining my own concrete floor that there are articles posted with very simple one page instructions on how to stain concrete. Of course, at first, this made me think Heck yeah, this is going to be so easy I’ll have it done in a couple days!
There is no way you are going to get a good concrete floor result with a couple paragraphs of instructions and a short materials list, and you certainly won’t have it done in a couple of days. I made a lot of mistakes, and had to fix them all as I went. I did this the hard way, certainly.
This book has tons of what you should not do
– before you even get there! These common mistakes are very easy to make, and will negatively affect how your floor turns out. Some of these are permanent, so you must be careful. Thankfully, I had enough time that I went back to fix most of my mistakes, but some were not possible to fix.
I also found a few articles that went on about how concrete is not a DIY project. Well, if I can do it – I promise you can too. It’s definitely not the easiest, or fastest DIY project, but I cannot describe how much pride you’ll have when you have this gorgeous artistic looking concrete floor that everyone will gush over. (Even more so when you tell them that you did it.)
Pros and Cons of Concrete Floors
PRO: Environmentally Friendly
More than likely, you already have a concrete floor. As long as your concrete is porous enough to hold stain, you’re good to go. Even if you have to put down a new top layer of concrete, it saves a lot of materials compared to most flooring options.
Concrete floors also are very good at keeping your home warmer in the winter, and cooler in the summer. If you have the sun beaming inside, it’ll warm up your floors. In the summer, the floor will stay cooler under your feet in a hot house.
PRO: Low Cost
Especially if you are starting a DIY project here
