Anne Mather

Anne Mather always wanted to write. For years she wrote only for her own pleasure, and it wasn’t until her husband suggested that she ought to send one of her stories to a publisher that they put several publishers’ names into a hat and pulled one out. The rest as they say in history. 150 books later, Anne is literally staggered by the result! Her email address is mystic-am@msn.com and she would be happy to hear from any of her readers.

This was enjoyable. I liked the whole idea of women meeting together, first as mothers, then as writers, and traveling through life together, through thick and thin. The narrator's name was Mary Frances, which was my mother's name, so that appealed to me as well. One thing that didn't quite work for me was the whole mother thing. When my own kids were little, I was so consumed, so utterly exhausted. And I guess I wanted to hear more about how hard and consuming it was to have young children, but then again, that's how it was for ME. Not all mothers of young children are as exhausted as I was. :-) The book just felt a little less authentic to me because of that. That said, I liked how events of the 60's and 70's were interwoven in the women's lives, I liked how not every situation had a happy ending. There was one chapter towards the end that was wonderfully written and quite poignant - chapter 42, I believe. worth reading.
