About this ebook

El filibusterismo is the second novel written by Jose Rizal and is the continuation of Noli me tangere. Rizal began to write his novel in 1887. The manuscript was finished March 29, 1891. The book addressed the return of main character of Noli me tangerre to the Phillippines, Crisostomo Ibarra, now the rich and famous jeweler Simoun. Disillusioned by the abuses of the Spanish, Ibarra convenes to Basilio to detonate a bomb in a social reunion, demonstrating the beginning of a revolution. The novel presents a dilemma, lived by Rizal himself: Can violence be the solution to injustice or is it possible to achieve social change by means of pacifist positions?
