No truer words could be said than those appearing at the top of this book's front cover: "Suzanne Brockmann fans will love this!" INDEED! I absolutely love the detail into which this author goes, throughout each of his books. With each book I learn many details about living a military life, the work involved, and the absolute commitment it requires from each soldier. This book was no exception. This book, more than any other of his stories, provided me with insight into what might drive someone to want to live a "high octane" life. The descriptions of climbing Giant Redwoods were enlightening, interesting, and yes, if I was younger, something I might have tried. The story twist of a black-in-black mission was described to perfection, without seeming weighted down by either detail or the characters' emotions.

For me personally, the highest complement I can think to give the writer of a major series, is that their creation can be read as a stand-alone. I remember happening upon Suzanne Brockmann's Troubleshooters series by way of book 7, Flashpoint, and how wonderful it was to discover an author who consistently wove new and interesting stories about her characters, without having to read them in a certain order. I believe M.L. Buchman's Night Stalkers series is just like that. Don't be afraid to read any of these stories before another. They are just too good for it to make a difference.

Almost forgot to add... the romance in Buchman's books rivals those in Brockmann's books. You won't be disappointed.
