A Note from the Author
Just a short note about the Pinckney’s from Charleston Romance series.
Andrea and Maria Pinckney owned a large plantation in the low country near Charleston, South Carolina. This is the third of a planned ten book series, one book for each brother.
Each book stands alone, so you don’t have to buy all ten to get the complete story. The characters will carry through from one book to the next, as they marry and have families of their own.
The first two books are A Marriage of Convenience (The story of Ben and Emily) and Lily and the Texas Ranger (The story of Brent and Lily.)
Please, let me hear from you. Would you like to see all ten books written? It is a big commitment of time and effort, and I would like to know if it’s worthwhile.
Thank you for your support of my books. God bless you all!
Susan

Prologue
There was a loud knock on the door. Maybe your Papa’s home,
she told Thomas. No, it’s not him, he wouldn’t have knocked.
She peeked through the living room window. There were four extremely handsome men, and a beautiful, elegantly dressed woman.
She opened the door. Ma’am,
one of the men drawled, is this where ‘at big ole Texas Ranger lives?
From the back, She shore is purty. Old Brent knows how to pick them, all right.
The most fashionably dressed woman Lily had ever seen, said in a cultured voice, "You must be Lily. I’m Emily. You must excuse these creatures. I married the only one with any manners. That would be Ben there, the one with the silly grin on his face.
Please come in. I’m Lily. Thomas is taking his nap.. Brent is out on an assignment, but the sheriff sent word he would be back sometime today.
I’m Bart, that’s Beau, and that one is Baxter. Be careful what you say, Bax is a preacher. As Emily said, the one with the silly grin is Ben, he’s a bit...,
he pointed his finger to his head and twirled it in a circle.
Bart,
Emily said, "you promised to behave if we let you out of your cage.
Lily shook her head in wonderment. She had never been around people such as these. He did warn me. He described you as the best brothers in the world.
Yeah, well, he’s a little touched too,
Bart said.
