About this ebook

Children come in all the colors, shapes and sizes of the Universe, just like adults. But unlike adults they need more guidance and direction. The term “special needs” denotes a lot of different things, but ultimately it means that these kids need more personalized and defined guidance and direction.

This book looks at special needs children, their parents and siblings from a different angle. One that is directed at understanding the inner dynamics.

    Preface

At some point, most parents of special needs children ask themselves, Why is this happening to my child?. There’s no simple answer to this very natural question. When it comes to both the purpose and process of life, there are many levels of complexity to understand. This particular book is not here to explain life’s purpose, but rather remind you that there is a purpose, no matter how painful or difficult it can be to understand at times.

Everyone is born unique, (no two people have the same DNA!) which means everyone is their own special being with their own special set of circumstances, potentials and capabilities. This also means we all have our own set of issues to deal with. These become our personal challenges, and we all have them. It’s just that some people are born with more apparent challenges than others. Special needs children are one of many groups that have more apparent personal challenges. For these kids you may be able to see their challenges easier than their potential, but that potential is there, you just have to look a little deeper.

You can no longer categorize and label people as easily as you used to. Normal is becoming an elusive thing. Each generation brings children into this world that can be categorized less and less. Schools all across the world are running into this problem, unable to easily test, label and streamline children into some generic learning routine. Schools also struggle with the increasing amount of children considered special needs. This is a very broad term, encompassing children who have pseudo-labels attached to them because there really is no direct physical disease or simple understanding of how their mind or bodies are working. They don’t fit the normal label, but beyond that they’re not easily categorized.

The area of special needs children is an extremely large one to cover, and it certainly can’t be covered by any one book, and probably not by any grouping of books either. It’s just too big and continually changing to put into the written word. This book is not about giving you answers; it’s about helping you out with some practical insights and understandings when it comes to dealing with, and raising children who are considered
